Longer Lasting School Shoes

My neighbour has a son entering Primary One in March. She asked me what brand of school shoes I buy for my boys as she often sees them diligently washing their shoes every Saturday. She even asked me if it is necessary to wash black school shoes. That got me thinking, “Do your kids wash their black school shoes?” because I asked my circle of friends and was stunned when most of them answered NO, […]

Why Self-Care Is Important for Everyone, Including (and Especially) Parents

Parenthood can be rewarding, but it can be ever too busy sometimes. Between being our children’s chauffeur and managing other to-dos, some days can be too overwhelming until we don’t get a minute to ourselves. Self-care and mental health go hand-in-hand. Neglecting one can have a negative impact on the other. Parental stress or burnout may get out of control if we don’t handle it well. Why Making Time For Yourself Matters Self-care is […]

What to Expect during a Chiropractic Adjustment

Are you: Suffering from regular headaches and migraines. … Experiencing frequent or constant back or neck pain with numbing of the legs or hands. … Have a limited range of motion with your muscles and joints often bothering you. … My hubby does and what he did was to consult a doctor at a hospital. They ran an MRI scan on him as well as put him through a course of physio therapy sessions. His […]

Important Factors To Take Note Before Buying School Shoes

It’s back-to-school and as usual, my boys prefer Pallas Jazz school shoes for the best fit and comfort. Start the new academic year right with your best foot forward. Poorly-fitted shoes can actually hinder a child’s normal growth and comfort. It is recommended to get lightweight and flexible shoes that ensures better growing feet. Both Ethan and Ayden’s shoes come with Arch Support. This is the most important factor as Ethan has flat foot. School […]

Philips Norelco MG3750 / MG5750 / MG7750 Multigroom Trimmer All-In-One Series

I’ve been cutting the boys’ hair since MCO happened but I’ve only used scissors then. Last week, I finally decided to get a hair clipper online. After browsing so many varieties of hair clippers, I decided on Philips Multigroom Trimmer All-In-One Series.  This 13 piece all-in-one trimmer even comes with a nose hair trimmer! The seller included 2 free gift – a 3 pin adapter and a bottle of hand sanitizer.  It was my first […]

A fragrant surprise

This happened earlier this month. I only got the time to jot it here now as I was caught up with Christmas cookies order. Thank you for all your support. I hope my cookies will bring joy to many this festive season. Okay so here’s my story. A surprise came in the mail one day addressed to Darling. He’s not at home so I received it on his behalf. I called him and he told […]

Durian Oh Durian

It’s my favourite indulgence. If you know me well, you’ll know that I watch what I eat. I don’t eat sugary stuffs. I don’t drink sodas. I am not even bothered by the current bubble tea craze.  BUT when it comes to durians, I have no restrictions whatsoever. I am crazy over durians. I can eat it for breakfast, lunch AND dinner *burp* Last month I was so craving for durians that I pestered Darling […]

Learning the drums at 41 years old | Mama RockStar wannabe

Ayden is finally in preschool this year. This means I have 4 hours of daily free time on weekdays. I did not feel much change in my routine earlier this year as I was busy rushing to complete customers’ orders of my Chinese New Year cookies. Reality sank in after the Chinese New Year holidays when both the boys returned to school. I was left with FOUR hours of FREEDOM a day by myself. FOUR […]

Children’s Day Celebration

Ethan celebrated Children’s Day last week at his school. He requested for me to bake something to bring to his class. I asked if he would like to bring a cake or cookies. He said since he already brought cake last year, he would like to bring cookies this time. He requested for his favourite Chocolate Chip cookies so I baked him several tubs to share with his friends as well as to give some […]

My Ultherapy Journey – The PROCEDURE

Ethan celebrated his 11th birthday in July while Ayden turned 5 end of August. I often wonder, where have all the time gone?  My boys are growing so fast, soon it will be back to only me and Darling when they both leave home to further their studies. Will it be honeymoon period again for us? Will Darling still see me the same as the beautiful bride he married back then? While it is not […]

Gathering with my former schoolmates

Today’s post is quite backdated. It was dated way back to the 4th day of Hari Raya this year.  This is the story… I have an active Whatsapp group of my former schoolmates. Not of the entire school but about 52 of us. There used to be more but some members left because the group is too noisy for their phone. They claimed that their battery drained quickly because of our never ending chats. We […]

Mummy’s Day Out

Last week, immediately after the end of Ethan’s second semester exam, we packed our bags and drove up to Resorts World Genting for a weekend staycation. The boys are always the happiest being up here enjoying the cool breeze. We brought them to catch the first viewing of SMURFS live on stage at Genting International Showroom which is being held from the 26 May – 24 June 2018. After Smurfs, the boys went back to the room […]

Ayden likes to draw

The other day Ayden saw this on our limau purut plant. I took disposable chopsticks to pick it away and throw in the bin but before I can do that, Ayden told me to take a picture of it to send to the Daddy. He always send random pictures to the father via Whatsapp. It’s a caterpillar right? The boys asked me why is this caterpillar without bulu. I don’t know how to answer them  […]

Fairy Lights Trees in KL City Centre

We were in KL for dinner today and on our way home, we saw these beautifully lit up trees along Jalan Ampang.  I am quite impressed. The streets look quite magical with these trees beautifully wrapped in fairy lights.  Can you see the difference? Two shades of lights are used – white and golden. The first picture is with golden fairy lights while the second picture is with white fairy lights.  Nice isn’t it?  Can […]

Stolen pictures of the boys

On Thursday (8/3/2018) after midnight, I was ready to go to bed. I set my alarm as I have to wake up in a few hours to prepare the boys for class. Suddenly a message popped out on my FB Messenger from Elie. She alerted me that my boys’ pictures are being used by one sick fella claiming them as his own. He even named the boys differently and was very consistent in his story about […]

Childhood Obesity and Ways to Prevent and Overcome It

Alright, where do I start? I was invited by Bernama to be one of their esteemed panelists for their LIVE, English language talk show, ‘The Nation’ on Monday, 12th February 2018, speaking about CHILDHOOD OBESITY IN MALAYSIA.  As I’ve mentioned in my previous blog posts, I wasn’t feeling well the past weeks with me and the boys down with some kind of bug going around but this is a topic I feel strongly about. The Boys’ First Ride on a Real Excavator

There was a burst pipe in front of our house. The contractor who was working on it brought an excavator and a huge dump truck to our place.  Both my boys watched them in awe. They kept talking about the excavator; pointing to each part of it. The contractor heard them and asked if they would like to go on a ride on that excavator. Imagine the boys’ surprise and delight! They said YES immediately.  […]

We went back to both Darling and my hometowns last weekend. The journey back to my hometown in Melaka was extremely tiring due to the most horrible jam we had ever encountered. It’s the school holidays. Guess who needs a break more than the boys? Yes, ME (not forgetting the Daddy too). Having two active boys at home 24/7 is no joke. As I’ve mentioned time and time again, playground time is very important for us. We look forward to going to the playground every evening for some sun and fresh air. Just like how gym enthusiast prioritize gym session over anything else, it is the same for us with playground hours.  We set a target of walking 10,000 […]

When the stress reliever causes more stress

I’ve mentioned this countless times – how playground time is important for us. It is especially important during exam weeks as Ethan goes there to release stress.  We went to the playground as usual today. Confinement Food: Black Vinegar Pork Trotter

About 3 weeks ago, someone in our family gave birth ahead of time; catching us all of guard.  As she has no other family members here in PJ except us, I cooked some confinement food for her. Being Fit: Pure Luck or Lots of Hard work?

A recent conversation I had with an acquaintance had her saying this to me, “You are lucky to not grow sideways after having kids”. I beg to differ. LUCK has nothing to do with me growing sideways or not.  I put on over 20kg during each of my pregnancies. Being only 4’9″, the additional 20kg was really taxing on me. Closer to the end of my pregnancy, I waddled around like a penguin as I […]
