ntv7 The Breakfast Show: Coping With Physical Changes During Pregnancy
“… I would like to invite you to come to our show to talk about your experience on Coping With Physical Changes During Pregnancy. it would be a light discussion to share your experience with expectant mothers can cope with the changes such as calcium deficiency, hair fall, water retention etc…”
It was a very last minute arrangement. I received the above email from ntv7 The Breakfast Show’s producer on Monday night inquiring if I can make it to their Studio on Wednesday morning as their guest to talk about Coping With Physical Changes During Pregnancy. I was already booked to be at Wisma TV Angkasapuri for the recording of Chiki Boom in the afternoon but since this TBS segment will only take an hour in the morning, I decided to squeeze that into my schedule and am I glad I did as the hosts Rashid Salleh and Douglas Lim are such a joy to be with.
We were there an hour earlier to get my make-up done. Ethan and Darling waited in the Guest Lounge watching Noddy. It has been some time since I last watched Noddy. Noddy used to be my favourite book back in school days ^_^
I was surprised when the make-up artist curled my hair! I haz straight hair and always loved my straight hair but he curled it. He even curled my fringe! -.-
Soon we were invited to get into the set with hosts of The Breakfast Show – Rashid Salleh and Douglas Lim. With me is a doctor from Pantai Hospital to talk about pregnancy and the changes it brings to a lady.
It was a very light and interesting discussion. We touched about the changes pregnant ladies go through such as water retention, dark spots, bleeding gum and more. We also talk about the emotional roller coaster that an expectant mom goes through everyday. It’s hilarious to see Douglas’ expression throughout the session as he is overwhelmed by the graphics that were shown on screen! LoL! He even said he felt so bad for causing all these ‘changes’ to his Mom! Haha.. NOW he knows!!
Okay, here’s a not so flattering angle of me taken by Darling while we were on air but I had to use this pic as this is the only one I have with my name in it. And there it goes again, my full name in full bloom but I’m glad this time they did not omit the ‘hyphen’ between the MI and the YEN out. Yep, I have a hyphen in my name and I’m proud of it! ^_^
I learned quite a lot today such as one of the ways to battle water retention is to drink more water! Can you believe that? When I was pregnant with Ethan, I did not suffer from water retention but I got it 5 days after delivering him. I can’t even remember how I got over it.
At the end of our session, Douglas asked me what is that one thing I want to share with the viewers regarding my pregnancy journey and I was blank for a moment as there are just too many but one thing that really stands out for me is the support I get from my spouse. I am very lucky to have Darling who tolerated my every whims and fancies. It is very important to get your spouse to be involved with you during your pregnancy if possible. We are already going through a turbulence of emotional roller coaster. It helps if our spouses understand that we are like this due to the surge of the pregnancy hormones. Yes, it is always good to put the blame on everything on the pregnancy hormones. After all, how often do we get pregnant to have this privilege? :P
