Holiday Inn Melaka | Kids’ Suite

A reader recently asked if I know of any hotels in Melaka suitable for families with young children as she is planning a trip to this historical city in the third quarter of this year. Immediately I shared with her the video of our recent stay in the Kids’ Suite, Holiday Inn Melaka.

This Kids’ Suite will definitely keep the little ones happy and occupied with the double-decker bed as well as play area in the room.

Another plus point is that at Holiday Inn Melaka, Kids Stay & Eat Free

Kids eat free at breakfast, lunch and dinner when dining with an adult. Plus to make your stay even more affordable, kids aged 12 and under stay for free when sharing their parents’ room.

Holiday Inn Melaka is located opposite Mahkota Parade

KIDS’ SUITE

This suite is designed to ensure the little ones stay happy with the well-lit double decker bed that gives out a fairytale vibe.

My two prince looking out from their ‘castle’.

There is a play area next to the double decker bed and it comes equipped with activity sheets and crayon for the children to show off their creativity.

Colourful crayons and activity sheets to keep the little ones occupied.

Little Ayden was all smiles as he colored and drew more stars on this colouring sheet. He deliberately chose Mini Mouse as he wanted to present this artwork to me. So much LOVE from this boy

We adults will be glad to know that our space is not compromised in the Kids’ Suite as we are allocated ample of space to chill and relax too.

Sometimes the kids hijack our bed too especially while watching television.

Remember Goldilocks and the Three Bears? How she chose the porridge, chair and bed to be ‘Just RIGHT’? Here at Holiday Inn Melaka, there is surely a JUST RIGHT pillow for even the fussiest of guests. FIRM or SOFT, you take your pick.

The pillows are hypoallergenic too so it is a huge relieve for us as big brother Ethan is medically certified as suffering from several allergies hence we are quite particular to the beddings when we travel.

In the Kids’ Suite, the amenities includes body wash, shampoo, lotion as well as powder specially for children.

A non-slip step stool is also provided for the convenience of our little ones.

Not only the room is spacious, the bathroom is equally capacious and fits a long bath much to the kids’ delight.

Kids’ Suite comes with a safety deposit box, flat screen TV, toilet amenities, hairdryer, and coffee and tea making facilities. Guests staying in these suites will enjoy access to the executive lounge – for evening cocktails, nibbles and breakfast.

RECREATION

At Holiday Inn Melaka, the 3rd floor is our favourite level as this is where the pool, gym, spa, Executive Club as well as the ping pong table is located.

Our boys are avid table tennis players so each time they see a ping pong table, they will for sure play a game or two. The use of the ping pong table, bat and ball is complementary.

THE INFINITY POOL

This is where the swimming pool is located too. There are two pools at this hotel – an infinity pool and a wading pool for children.

I get to unwind by the pool after a long day while the boys enjoy their own enclosed and shallow water pool area.

You can’t fake happiness. The priceless smiles on the boys’ faces tell it all.

The spectacular infinity pool overlooks a scenic and panoramic view of the Straits of Melaka. This 5-feet deep pool is great for early morning laps or a relaxing evening dip, while the shallow end is perfect for kids to wade in.

COMPLIMENTARY USE OF FITNESS CENTER

Fitness enthusiasts will love the gym located in Tea Tree Spa, level 3 as all their equipment are well-maintained and up to date. They last updated their equipment in 2018.

Equipment includes Rower, Stair Stepper, Treadmill, Elliptical Machines, Free Weights and Stationary Bicycle.

Changing room, Sauna and Shower is available here. Gym is open from 6 am to 10 pm.

TEA TREE SPA

Tea Tree Spa offers foot and neck reflexology, therapeutical and traditional massages.

Spa villas

Facilities such as sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi are available on site. Pedicures and manicures services are available too.

Hours of Operation: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM

EXECUTIVE CLUB LOUNGE

  • OPERATING HOURS 7.00AM – 11.00PM
  • ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES & COCKTAILS HOURS 6.00PM to 8.00PM

Exclusively for guests residing in suite rooms, the Club Lounge located on level 3 houses great privileges including complimentary breakfast, refreshments, canapés and a variety of  beverages for our indulgence.

Not to be missed is the cocktail hour from 6-8pm where free-flow alcoholic beverages and cocktails are served.

SIROCCO ITALIAN RESTAURANT

Sirocco Italian Restaurant is a highly-rated restaurant which serves up authentic Italian cuisine. It has been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for year 2015 as well as Best Restaurants 2015 awarded by Malaysia Tatler for its exceptional service and cuisine.

With its signature wood-fired oven and open kitchen concept, Sirocco Italian Restaurant delivers an unforgettable dining experience.

A must-have here is their signature wood-fired pizza.

We ordered the Quattro Stagioni (RM30)

Made up of beef pepperoni, chicken pepperoni, salmon and smoked duck but we requested to omit the beef as the boys don’t eat beef. There is a thing about wood fire oven pizza which makes it all yummier.

I had the Grilled T-Bone Steak (RM88nett)

Truly satisfying with a great flavor from the bone for one thing, I enjoyed gnawing that list bit of deliciously grilled beef off the bone.

We ended our wonderful dinner with this creamy Ricotta Cheese Cake (RM28nett)

Holiday Inn Melaka offers facilities for disabled guests, complimentary parking as well as free shuttle service to tourist attractions. It is also a walking distance to heritage sites such as The Stadthuys, Christ Church and Jonker Street.

Taking into consideration the affordable pricing as well as spaciousness of the room and the wide variety of dining options, Holiday Inn Melaka easily makes a great choice for a relaxing family getaway.

That’s nice. I wish all hotels have family rooms like for the three of us. Some have rooms so small you can’t ask for an extra bed, will have to book two rooms!

Hello, Robert & Lilian! Senyumlah sikit, Robert. Garang nampak. See Lilian, so manis senyumannya, looking just like the daughter.

Eh, William! You not on the same side kah? Which side lah you? Muahahahahaha!!!!

    • //

Yes, traveling with kids, we now tend to look for these types of rooms instead of the normal standard rooms. Themed rooms are so much welcomed as they keep the kids occupied, giving us adults more time to chill. It is a holiday after all so I need my break too.

Haha, that is my Dad’s signature look. All my friends were afraid of him when they met him for the first time coz he looks so garang but actually he is not :D My mom on the other hand, looks so sweet but can be the most garang person I know. LoL!

I don’t know which side William is on.. hahahaha.

Very kids-friendly. I like the castle. The design, very family-oriented. Will keep this hotel in view if I visit Melaka. Wish to go, bring kids visit the historical city. The first and last I was there was back in 1999!!! 20 years have passed!!

    • //

20 years? OMG you really need to plan a trip here someday. The kids should see for themselves the historical places that they read in their buku sejarah.

    • //

Yes it is. That’s the first thing the boys go to when they entered the room.

  • //

I think I am due for another trip to Malacca. :-)

  • //

Wow! I love that suite room with bunk bed. It is such a thoughtful design for a happy family like yours.
