Gardening Tips: How to keep cats from pooping in my pots
I love gardening but one thing I dislike about it is that cats love pooping in my pots. It gets pretty annoying to be scooping poops every morning. No, we can’t use cat poop as fertilizer for my food plants.
What I do is to scatter orange peel in the pots regularly. Most cats dislike the smell of citrus hence this will deter them from pooping here to some extend. We eat oranges a lot so I have endless supplies of orange or lemon peel.
If citrus scent is not deterrent enough, I also poke some wooden chopsticks in my pots to keep cats away. They won’t be able to put their bum in there for sure.
That is my tips to keep those annoying feline away. What is yours? Care to share?

I am also at wit’s end on how to keep them from doing their business on my porch. I will try your orange peel and see whether or not it works.
So they say Daiso’s cat repellant works wonders too. Shall we both try that? I’ll go hunt for it this weekend.
My spouse bought rat repellent bags from daiso before but not for the cats. I asked him whether effective for rats or not and he said he don’t know. Lol!
Aiyorrrrrrrr!!!! Cruelty to animals. I put nails or thumb tacks on your toilet seat, you like or not? Hehehehehehe!!!! Put out a sandbox – they will do it there. Cats are good, they do not do their business anywhere and everywhere…unlike dogs…but the stench from the poop in the sandbox can be killing!!!

You gave me such a good idea. I shall put nails and thumb tacks in my pots now. Hahahaha. I don’t want to put a sandbox. I don’t welcome these strays. Sometimes they are not even strays, they are somebody’s cat. I don’t like them. A sandbox will only welcome them more.
After juicing, my hubby will dispose the residue into the plants pots. No cats coming into my garden but flies! Sigh.
But the neighbour’s cats once a while climbing up my car as I could see the paw prints. Lol.
Cover the fruit pulp with soil, flies wont come. I see paw prints on our cars too. Worse is they poop on our awning. Argh!
i bought cat repellant from daiso..so far so good…
second method i did before and worked well too,,,use a newspaper and set fire at the place where cat love to poo…eventually the cat wont go to the same spot again..
Thank you. I shall hunt for the cat repellant from Daiso this weekend. I’ve not heard about the newspaper method but no harm trying right? :D
Place charcoal because it takes away the smell of the poop. And usually cats coming back to the same pot due the pooping smell. It works for us last time when cat keep poop infront our house.,
That means I have to go get charcoal. I don’t have charcoal at home.
I don’t have such problem unless the cat can climb as high as 14 floor, LOL
But good to know such knowledge too, cat don’t like citrus smell :)
