Little helper in the kitchen
This year with big brother Ethan in the school’s morning session, I started to cook dinner daily as we will have dinner and go to bed earlier compared to when he was in the evening session. The fact that lil Ayden is turning 3 and is able to help in the kitchen is also a contributing factor to me cooking more often. I do my marketing once a week and try to make sure […]

Our home-cooked dinner
These days I jadi macam full-time cook jer. Early morning, cook. Evening, cook. But why am I complaining lah, this IS the job of a stay-at-home-mom what kan? If I don’t cook then stay at home for what? But then again I have not been cooking for the many, many years I have been staying at home :P Kor-Kor is busy upstairs in his room, catching up on homework for the one week that he […]

Eating Out for Baby
Since Ayden started solid about a month ago, I never cook and bring his food out when we are out of the house. I just fed him some baby biscuits while we are eating and he is good. But last weekend I did. He is having such good appetite these days that when we eat, he’ll lick his lips hoping to be fed too. So for the very first time last Saturday, I brought his […]

Sotong Tempra Recipe
The day before my water bag broke, I was happily eating in Puchong at my sister’s place as my parents were in town for a wedding the next day. As usual, my mother would prepare dinner for us whenever she comes to town. One of my favourite dishes that evening is this Sotong Tempra. A number of my friends requested for the recipe so here goes.. Sotong Tempra Ingredients: Sotong Big Onions (sliced) Red Chili Coriander […]

Mom’s in town
We did not balik kampung during the holidays as I dread being caught in the massive jam. My sister told me that my parents will be up in KL instead and that is just perfect! I knew that instantly that we will all be pampered with Mom’s home-cooked meals! I quickly gave my mom a call and asked her if she can cook mee siam for me as I’ve been craving for it for ages! […]

Spicy Mushroom Tapas Recipe
I have a new hobby lately – watching Ayam Brand’s The Student Series online. The Student Series revolves around Will (played by Will Quah) a typical male student; clumsy and a complete disaster in the kitchen. His sister, Sarah (played by Aishah Sinclair) is the opposite. She knows her way around the kitchen and loves to cook. Since Will is leaving for his studies to Australia soon, he is concerned that he will miss Malaysian […]

How to get a kid to eat vegetables
If there is one flaw in Ethan, it must be the fact that he doesn’t like fruits. Getting him to eat fruits is like forcing him to take poison. I’ve given up coaxing him to eat fruits. He doesn’t like juices as well but occasionally will gulp down a glass of freshly blended apple juice just so his Mommy won’t cry that all her efforts has gone to waste. To balance things up, I have […]

Delicious Fried Instant Noodles Recipe
I’m a very happy woman today. Darling left to work with a smile on his face saying he had a delicious breakfast, better than those he gets from the Mamak stall! Oh me, oh my! It’s not everyday I get such a compliment from him so you can imagine me floating in the air smiling like a silly little girl. I’m so happy that I’m blogging this out immediately! LoL! I ‘accidentally’ woke up a […]

Luncheon Meat Egg roll
I’ve been wanting to post this up for some time now but never had the time until today :D My mother prepares this simple meal for us often as all of us loves it. She gave me 2 cans of luncheon meat the last time I went back hometown so I thought of trying making this myself. This is the first time I’m making this so let’s see how it turns out! Luncheon meat roll […]

Sweet and Sour Prawn Recipe
I have more time to spare in the kitchen now that Ethan is attending kindergarten. Ethan loves sweet and sour fish while Darling loves sweet and sour crab but I’ve never tried cooking sweet and sour prawns before until several days ago. This is the outcome. Very yummy with lots of gravy to drench the rice. Ethan and I love our rice to be wet so I deliberately cook up extra gravy. Sweet and Sour […]

Afro Head Steamed Broccoli & Fishball
I had planned to make this afro head steamed broccoli and fishball for lunch today. It took me ten minutes to get that ONE afro head done. I was expecting a guest for lunch so I knew I won’t be able to get this ready on time. I stir-fried them instead >_< Nevertheless, here’s the recipe of what I intended to make: Ingredients: Fishballs Broccoli Carrot, cut into 1cm thin sharp pieces Corn flour Oyster […]

What to do with mayonnaise?
I got this bottle of Japanese mayonnaise from Ethan’s class educational trip recently. I have no idea what to do with it until yesterday when I discovered that it is going to expire this December when I stripped it! :P Oh dear, better use it fast before it expires! Japanese Kewpie sudah bogel :D What we did was to blanch some carrot sticks and cut some japanese cucumbers. I used normal carrot as I doubt […]

Sugar toast
Every once in a while, I let Ethan indulge in something not so healthy :P His favourite ‘unhealthy’ food is of course, sugar toast. It’s so easy to prepare. Just spread butter on a piece of sandwich bread. Toast it on my favourite Tefal pan. Turn it around. Once golden, sprinkle some sugar and you are done :D Ethan loves it so much, it’s finger licking GOOD! :D

The bitter bitter gourd soup
The weather has been hot like crazy these days so I thought of boiling my favourite bitter gourd soup over the weekend to cool us down. I’ve never boiled this before I tell you though I’ve had it outside countless times. How hard can it be? It’s just like boiling any other soup but instead of using old cucumber or anything else, we use bitter gourd. No? – pork ribs – bitter gourd 苦瓜 (rub […]

Cooked this mee suah for myself, Darling and Ethan and that is breakfast. What about you? What’s for breakfast? Mee suah with anchovies stock I boiled some […]

A Heart Full Of Spaghetti
Last weekend I was back in my in-laws place. My SIL cooked some kind of long bean dish that Ethan loved so much he alone ate almost half of it. Nvm… Then guess what? Darling had to ask Ethan who is the better cook? My SIL or ME? And Ethan answered, “Kuku…” (which also means my SIL-lah). You know who was the happiest then? No prize for guessing.. yeah.. my MIL! It’s no secret I’m […]

Simple egg with tofu dish
My colleague taught me a simple dish the other day. She said she loves eating eggs (sunny side up) served on tofu with a dash of soya sauce (I think) over it. So I experimented with it today. I dunno if this is what she is talking about? I steamed the tofu for several minutes and discard the excess liquid. I know my colleague did not steam it as she told me to just take […]

Fish with fruity sauce
Ethan loves fried fish. I can just fry a fish and throw some browned garlic on top and he’ll finish the whole thing easily. I fried fish again today.. And when I looked at it I feel so sad! LoL! So pitiful right my fish? :P So I decided to do something with it. I rummaged through my fridge and unfortunately I don’t have many things in it. I found strawberries, green apples, carrots and […]
