Balinese Massage @ Mandara Spa, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur
We were privileged to be invited to experience the newly unveiled completely restyled West Wings guest rooms at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel last weekend. I’ll write more about those wonderful new rooms later as there are many pictures and videos I’d love to share with you but haven’t got the time composing them into a story yet.
During our staycation here at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, I was also treated to a much needed relaxation at Mandara Spa located at East Wing on Level 3 of the hotel.
Mandara Spa at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel is a luxurious urban retreat.
The 2-storey spa is located at the East Wing, next to the Fitness Center and easily accessible through the swimming pool level.
Their Spa Menu offers a range of treatments incorporating the wisdom of ancient cultures with the latest Spa science from Elemis spa-therapies.
The Spa features double and single Deluxe Spa Suites with en-suite bath and steam shower for the ultimate Spa journey; whilst other treatment rooms offer steam shower or shower only facilities.
Relaxing foot massage, manicure and pedicure treatments are available in a specially designated area.
I was greeted with the exotic aromas of spices and pure essential oils with the gentle sounds of calming music as soon as I stepped in here.
I was served cold ginger tea while my therapist introduced 4 different types of essential oils.
She explains the uses and benefits of each oil while letting me sample all four of them before letting me decide which suits me best.
I opted for the Tranquility Massage Oil blend as it has been a rather hectic past couple of weeks with both the boys home during the school holidays. I desperately need to ease away the stress and invite a little Zen into my day.
My therapist lead me to our suite on the first level of the Spa.
Single Deluxe Spa Suites with en-suite bath and steam shower.
My treatment for today is the ever popular Balinese Massage.
Used for centuries to renew, strengthen and heal both body and mind, this traditional therapy combines stretching, long strokes, skin rolling and thumb and palm pressure techniques to relieve tension, improve blood flow, ease stress and calm the mind.
We began my therapy with a foot scrub. I was given a choice to several essential oils to which I picked Peppermint. I just love peppermint and its relaxing and soothing effect.
Once we are done with the foot scrub, I was escorted to the massage bed.
From here onwards, I just lay down and let my therapist bathe my senses and lull me into a state of relaxed bliss.
My therapist may be small in size but she certainly has very strong fingers. She applied the right pressure especially on my shoulder and neck area to relieve stress as I have stiff neck due to working in front of the computer for long hours.
I love every long strokes she applied on my body, with every pressure being spot on.
A totally new me at the end of the massage session. I felt so refreshed and rejuvenated, I am ready to get back to the boys
Hot ginger tea to conclude my invigorating spa session.
By the way, where were the boys while I was enjoying my precious ME time? They were with me the first 10 minutes helping me record this video of my indulgence after which they proceeded to TEMPTationS for lunch.
Come watch me getting some ZEN into my day:
