Black Bean with Red Dates Chicken Soup

Since the arrival of Ayden, I don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen anymore but I can’t stand eating out all the time so I try my best to prepare something convenient yet nutritious – soup. I am also fully breastfeeding Ayden so soup is one of the major milk booster for me. Today’s soup is the simplest of  the lot – Chinese Black Bean with Red Dates Chicken Soup. A popular soup […]

Chinese New Year Snack : Seaweed Roll

For the past couple of years (or maybe slightly more) I’ve not been making anything for Chinese New Year. I was always busy with Ang Pow decor workshops that I hardly have time to be in the kitchen. This year though, I tried making at least ONE snack and the chosen snack is non other than the simplest of the lot – Seaweed roll. Nori sheets, popiah skin and egg white. That’s all we need […]

Koufu Trendy Chinese Cuisine @ One City

Though I’m a Malaccan I spent most of my growing up years in Sitiawan, Perak. Unlike my Peranakan parents, I am quite fond of the Fuzhou food there. I left Sitiawan for college in KL but my parents remained there. Each time I go back to Sitiawan, my mother will buy me a hot bowl of lu mien from the famous aunty in the market. I remember referring to her as “pasar aunty”. That was […]

The school holidays is here and that means parents (mostly urban families) signing their kids up for various holiday programmes available to keep their kids occupied. As for us, we did not sign Ethan up for anything except this bento making workshop organised by BaoBei. Best of Malaysia: Seafood Buffet Dinner at Chatz Brasserie

Seafood – the all time favourite of many diners. I’ve not had seafood on ice for a very long time, 10 months to be exact, due to my pregnancy. Pregnant women are not supposed to be eating raw salmon, oysters and more right? Imagine my delight when the foodie gang got the opportunity to dine at Chatz Brasserie, PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur for their seafood buffet dinner. Ngam, ngam after my confinement so I’m all good […]

Add chicken and continue frying. Add water and salt to taste. Cover and simmer. Once the chicken is tender, add rice wine according to your preference. Here’s my mother modelling with her rice wine! LoL! Serve hot. Yums!

Confinement Red Dates Tea

When I gave birth to Ethan six years ago, I remembered boiling red dates and dried wolfberry tea every single day during the first week of confinement. It is believed red dates tea can help increase breast milk supply as well as nourish our blood. Naturally when I gave birth to Ayden recently, I wanted to drink the same thing again but this time, I was told to add more ingredient in it. I was […]

Hot & Spicy Sze Chuan and Mooncakes @ Zuan Yuan

Ever since I started my confinement about 11 days ago, Darling and Ethan has been eating out quite frequent as they can’t eat the food meant for me. With the Hot & Spicy Sze Chuan promotion in the month of September (prices start from RM10 per dish) it is easily understood why they chose to dine there. Originating from Sichuan, […]

Gartien Pineapple Cake – A little piece of Penang

Facebook can sometimes work wonders! I’ve seen several or should I say MANY Penang-langs posting the famous Gartien Pineapple cake on Facebook (especially with the Mid Autumn festival around the corner). That was my one and only time savoring this delicious delicacy. […]
