Black Glutinous Rice with Black Bean and Black Sesame Porridge
Postpartum hair loss. How many of you suffered from it after delivering your baby? I had it, TWICE, both with Ethan and Ayden.
This was what greeted me every morning. It scares the heck out of me as I really thought that I’ll be going bald.
I confided in a friend about my worries and she gave me this hair growth recipe to try. She said it will help restore my crowning glory.
Ingredients:
50g Black glutinous rice
25g Black bean
15g Black sesame seed
Red dates (8-10)
Brown sugar according to taste
Method:
Rinse black glutinous rice, black bean and red dates. Soak.
Discard water and remove.
Add water in a pot. Put all the ingredients in the pot and bring to a boil. Add brown sugar last.
Delicious and nutritious black porridge.Â
Black glutinous rice, black sesame seed and black bean contain photosynthetic for pigment formation. They darken hair color and provides nutrients to hair follicle cells promoting hair growth.
I’ve been eating this once a week for a couple of months and am noticing lesser hair fall.Â
I can have beautiful black hair again :)

Haiyar! Somebody should have told me about this long ago – now too late, almost all gone. I love pulut hitam dessert…with santan. Yum! Yum!
LoL. No harm eating now. Who knows, you can get back your crowning glory and look 30 again :P
That is normal for women after delivery. I suffered the most after my 2nd delivery. Now more well prepare, take this and that.
Your porridge not only nutritious but look yummy.
Glad to know that you are better prepared this time. Yes, this porridge is really yummy :)
I suffered from hair loss after giving birth to Aden, luckily I found a good shampoo! And this dish you shared, I think I’ve heard about the function too!
Ah that’s great. As for me, I don’t think I found a suitable shampoo until I tried this. It helps to a certain extend lah…
Your hair is beautiful…don’t worry la
If I dont jaga, it will become ugly so must take precaution :)
wow mum! i need this! hahaha thanks for the recipe! =D
Well son, hope it helps :)
having kids sounds so so scary O:
Haha, it’s not as scary as it sounds. Don’t worry. You’ll be a great mom when the time comes :)
Hello! How long do you soak the ingredients and boil them for? Thanks!
Soak for a while or you can even skip the soaking part. I like to boil for about an hour. The black bean will dry up the water really fast so you need to check on the water level from time to time.
Hi, do you eat it or blend it together after boil please? How many serving does this make? Thank you!
Hi JJ,
I just eat it all like that without blending. I’m not too sure how many serving this makes though. Sorry.
I made this yesterday and it was a hit. I will definitely make again and again.
“This was great! Really enjoyed it – thanks for sharing. I do agree with another commenter who said it was a bit sweet – I will definitely reduce the sugar next time (I used regular granulated sugar).
Can’t wait for leftovers tomorrow! :)”
