Awarded BaoBei’s exemplary student (模 范 生)
Earlier this week, Ethan came home smiling from ear to ear. He only smiles that wide upon completing one stage and proceeding to the next. He has been in BaoBei for 9 months now and he is in stage E at the moment. I thought he has completed stage E and is already in F but he said not yet, a little bit more to go. I wonder then, why that big grin? Then he [...]

Learning through play
I give English and Math tuition at home for Primary school going kids. Ethan participates in all these classes ever since like ‘forever’.. The other day I was teaching the Primary 4 kids Multiplication. After class, Ethan requested to learn multiplication too. I told him it is good enough that he knows his Addition and Subtraction well and that Multiplication can wait. After all, he is not even FIVE yet! But he insisted to learn as [...]

Bento workshop for kids
Today, Darling and I accompanied Ethan to his school’s educational trip – bento making. When Ethan initially brought home the permission slip, he told us that ONE adult must accompany him. I volunteered to go but Darling said it would be nice to make it a family outing as well so we paid for 2 adults and 1 kid Ethan was given a bento set, a pair of gloves, a hair net and a goodie [...]

Petrosains KLCC
The last I went to Petrosains KLCC was end of 2006 when I was pregnant with Ethan. I was working with Smart Reader Kids then and was leading the kids for their field trip. The kids were 5 and 6 years old then but they did not enjoy the trip. We completed the entire place in less than 2 hours! Yesterday, when we planned to utilize the free Petrosains vouchers given by Disney Junior, I [...]

Angry Bird #bodohpunyabuku
We did not go anywhere after Ethan’s class today. It was raining on and off the entire day that I got so lazy to go out. We stayed home and did sand art instead. Sand art can be rather messy so I got him to take off his shirt and pants. He still has his underwear ON okay? My neck went stiff *not forgetting the sore butt* after sitting there with him the entire hour [...]

Covered in poop
I was at my work place as usual today waiting for Darling to send Ethan over after his class in Bao Bei. Right on time Ethan appeared at the glass door. I greeted him with a kiss and a hug and asked him how his day was. He said it was okay and I continued by asking how many times he went to the loo during lessons today. I don’t know why but each time he [...]

Word World – Where Words Come Alive
The creator of Word World – Where Words Come Alive must be a genius! A REAL genius! Thank goodness for Word World! We were first introduced to Word World back in January 2010 when Darling redeemed a set of Word World VCD’s from his credit card points. Ethan loves it instantly that his collection of Word World VCD/DVDs has been growing tremendously throughout the years. His latest Word World episode is Mmm.. Mmm… Milk. Mmm… Mmm… [...]

Colours in Mandarin
A week after attending Bao Bei, Ethan is starting to speak in Mandarin. Ethan and colours in Mandarin While we were playing with colours last Tuesday, he happily blurted this out… Sweet! He now has the confidence to speak in Mandarin to ME but not to his teachers yet. Why? Because he knows his Mandarin is superior to me so he can show off!! Most of the time I don’t know what he says until [...]

I won’t be updating so frequent-lah, but I think the first week is very important so I took notes of whatever improvement I see in him. Read about Day 1′s update here. Day 2 Ethan still refuse to read nor speak to the teachers unless it is in English. He does not participate in group activities and still [...]
