Ginkgo Barley with Bean Curd Sheet Recipe

I love drinking sweet desserts. Apart from my favourite red bean with black glutinous rice dessert, my another all-time favourite is my mom’s Ginkgo Barley with Bean Curd Sheet. I’ve never boiled this myself because I’m just too lazy to shell and remove the ginkgo core. Here’s how my mom makes it: Ginkgo Barley with Bean Curd Sheet Ingredients: Barley Shelled Ginkgo with core removed. Bean Curd Sheet / Fu Chok. Make sure it’s the […]

Sushi Zanmai @ Sunway Pyramid

When it comes to choosing a place to eat, there are 2 types of people in this world. One who will go to eateries with the longest queue and join the line and the other who will enter the almost empty eatery so he/she will get served immediately. The person who joins the longest queue does so because he believes it is worth queuing because there is good food waiting for him in there; hence […]

Papaya Red Dates Milk Booster Soup

Six years ago I failed in my breastfeeding journey with Ethan. I blame it on my lack of knowledge and determination. Fast forward to present, I read (and try) everything possible to boost my milk supply so I can fully breastfeed Ayden. I learned the importance of direct latching as demand = supply. I also browsed the internet for lactating soups and consumes them regularly to keep myself well-nourished. One of the most popular milk […]

Bread Sushi

Ethan was on medical leave the other day and we got hungry but I realised we ran out of rice at home. I’ve not been cooking much lately so we don’t have much stuff stocked up at home. I checked and all we had was bread, egg and nori sheets. Bread, egg and nori sheets. What can we make out of them? We made sushi! Bread sushi to be exact…  Here’s how we made the cheat […]

Black Glutinous Rice with Black Bean and Black Sesame Porridge

Postpartum hair loss. How many of you suffered from it after delivering your baby? I had it, TWICE, both with Ethan and Ayden. This was what greeted me every morning. It scares the heck out of me as I really thought that I’ll be going bald. I confided in a friend about my worries and she gave me this hair growth recipe to try. She said it will help restore my crowning glory. Ingredients: 50g […]

Black Bean with Red Dates Chicken Soup

Since the arrival of Ayden, I don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen anymore but I can’t stand eating out all the time so I try my best to prepare something convenient yet nutritious – soup. I am also fully breastfeeding Ayden so soup is one of the major milk booster for me. Today’s soup is the simplest of  the lot – Chinese Black Bean with Red Dates Chicken Soup. A popular soup […]

Chinese New Year Snack : Seaweed Roll

For the past couple of years (or maybe slightly more) I’ve not been making anything for Chinese New Year. I was always busy with Ang Pow decor workshops that I hardly have time to be in the kitchen. This year though, I tried making at least ONE snack and the chosen snack is non other than the simplest of the lot – Seaweed roll. Nori sheets, popiah skin and egg white. That’s all we need […]

Koufu Trendy Chinese Cuisine @ One City

Though I’m a Malaccan I spent most of my growing up years in Sitiawan, Perak. Unlike my Peranakan parents, I am quite fond of the Fuzhou food there. Confinement Red Dates Tea

When I gave birth to Ethan six years ago, I remembered boiling red dates and dried wolfberry tea every single day during the first week of confinement. Gartien Pineapple Cake – A little piece of Penang
