Ayden’s Reading Progress @ 19 months and Some Random Updates

It’s 1st of April 2015. Things will never be the same again after today with the implementation of GST but I’m not going to talk about that as I am no expert in this issue. I shall wait and see how this will affect my family’s expenditure. In preparation for GST, I resumed teaching. I am now giving private tuition again at night in my house. I’m so thankful I still have students eventhough I’ve stopped teaching for almost two years due to the arrival of Ayden. This week is my third week teaching and oh boy, how I’ve missed having students over at my place. It feels so good to be back in business :D

Anyway, enough about me and let’s talk about the kids. Ethan is having his first term school exam this week so we are all ‘grounded’. No going out at nights in order to make time for that boy to do some revision before going to bed.

kura kura

While doing BM revision with him, we came across the above. Why kura-kura boleh berenang di dalam air ATAU berjalan di darat. Why use ATAU and not DAN that boy asked me. I thought my BM very power but when he asked me that question, I was unable to answer him >_<

Ayden is 20 months old today. Happy 20 months old, Ayden! LoL! Let’s look at his progress before hitting the big 2-0.

* He finally grew more teeth. He has 8 teeth in total. 4 up, 4 down. When he kiap me while nursing, I feel like my tits will fall off and ended up in his mouth as chewing gum!!!

* Can self-feed.

Ayden eat corn

Maybe I will have to try growing my own corns…

* Has established good sleeping hours. No more going to bed past midnight. He sleeps when big bro Ethan sleeps and wakes up when Ethan wakes up. Bless!

* Loves watching Upin dan Ipin.

* Can read more words now. Initially he’ll read a word or two and stop but now he can continue reading up to seven words before taking a break. Watch this video of him reading 6 words. He almost stop after three words but proceeded to complete six words.

Ayden reading @ 19 months old

I guess that is all for now. I am bored max because it had been raining in the evenings the past two days and Ayden and I were unable to go to the playground. That kind of put me in a foul mood coz I did not get my daily dose of fresh air and sunshine :(

Good question! Why atau and not dan? Sometimes they get these half-past-six writers…and of course, they pay peanuts…so they get monkeys!

    Eeeee….nen-nen!!!

Wahhhhhh!!!! Can read so well. Some in secondary school, still buta huruf! Boy or girl, they also do not know, the Form 3 class I taught once. All in Mandarin. Just wanted the answers to copy, copied letter by letter and that also, they could not do correctly.

My spoken BM is very good but when it comes to written BM.. haih.

Yeah, no play-play on the nen-nen issue. LoL! William gets goosebumps each time I complained to him. hahahahahaha!

    You are a tutor also?

    • //

      Yes Libby I am :)

  • //

Haha. I still laughing at Ayden enjoying his corn. Like adult!!

Good boy. He can read. My Jamie still in ABC stage. Lol. And he almost grow all his teeth now so he has to brush his teeth now and then.

Good luck to Ethan in his exam. Hmm. I personally think that BM srntence should be more accurate with “dan” instead of “atau”.

Rose, it is not a priority for toddlers to know to read or learn ABC at this age. Kids are supposed to learn ABC n reading in kindy. It’s just that I am trained in guiding toddlers to read so I might as well apply that knowledge to my own child :)

I’m amazed you still have time to guide Jamie although you are extremely busy with the elder two and hubby being outstation lagi. Salute.

You can either swim, or walk. You can’t swim and walk at the same time. Maybe that’s why ATAU. But, I’m just speculating. My BM tak boleh pakai dah. I’m working in Penang where the Malays use Bahasa Utara, so my vocabulary has a lot of depa, hang, ayak XD

By the way, what is ayat majmuk? Gosh..

    • //

Yes, I was told the same reason too regarding the kura-kura.

Ayat majmuk is ayat yang hampir mengamuk … hahahahahaha!

  • //

dan and atau both also can use mah ….
    hmm…be careful he don’t bite too hard … :P

Poor thing… You love to go out but gotta ‘jail’ at home due to rain and Ethan’s exam. Never mind, long weekend in SG, Im coming to KL. Want to come out ? *wink* *wink*

Wow, Ayden is so smart! Can recognise words and apply the sound to them at such a young age.
