Lemang Kijal

What is lemang? Lemang is a traditional malay food that is made of glutinous rice and cooked in hallowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Lemang is usually eaten with rendang or serunding. Usually prepared for festivities such as the Muslim Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, we found lemang in abundance EVERYDAY here in Terengganu during our trip to Awana Kijal, Golf, Beach & […]

Mother’s Day craft: Crepe paper ‘pottery’

In the Studio yesterday, I wanted to get the kids to make a Mother’s Day gift since Mother’s Day is approaching. I couldn’t think of anything ‘outstanding’ yet so I shared with them this crepe paper ‘pottery’ project. I call it pottery  because just like pottery with clay, you have to like roll the clay all around in circles before you can start shaping them. We used the large toilet paper roll. Glue a cardboard […]

What is my net worth?

I went to Menara UAC today to collect a couple of prizes I won recently. I’ve never been there and requested for Darling to accompany me but as we arrived, he has no where to park the car. He told me to go on my own and the first thing that I blurted out was, “But I don’t know where the place is!” Darling rolled his eyes and said, “It’s at Level 5. Go to […]

Satar – Terengganu’s Local Delicacy

During our stay in Awana Kijal Golf, Beach and Spa Resort, the staffs there kept on raving about a certain fish snack called satar. They kept asking us if we’ve tried it. Honestly speaking, I’ve never heard of such a snack. When I knew I am going to Terengganu, the first thing that came to mind is keropok lekor and nasi dagang but definitely not satar as I am not even aware of its existence. […]

Couple’s Tee

You know back when you were dating, some of you might have bought couple tees  that compliment each other? It’s like a jigsaw puzzle piece, the tee won’t be complete unless the other half is wearing his/hers. It was like a statement to tell the world that he/she is YOURS? Well, Darling and I were never in that phase during our courting days but as we grow into our  seventh years of marriage, we are […]

I May Be Small But I’m Strong

I was out shopping yesterday and spotted this tee. The caption captivates me and immediately I took one to try. I saw one lady asking the staff there if they have the same tee in XL size. Now tell me, why would you want to wear a tee that says, “I May Be Small But I’m Strong” if you are an XL sized person? o.O

Armpits are not allowed on TV commercials.. No?

No matter how cute they are? I think here in Malaysia, there are two body parts that are not allowed to be shown on TV commercials ie the underarm and the belly button. You don’t get to actually see the lady model applying deodorant on her armpits in TV commercials do you? Forget about breasts and the thing down there, those are forbidden! Somehow, armpits are allowed in print advertisement though. Here’s a deodorant Ad […]

Sitiawan Kompiang

I was raised in Sitiawan from Primary 4 until I left for college. When it comes to Sitiawan, one delicacy that you MUST try is: Gong Pian, Gong Phiang, Kong Piang, Kompiang.. however you spell it, it only means one thing : Biscuit made of lard, onions, salt and flour with either onion or minced pork fillings which is then slapped onto the sides of a traditional Chinese oven. It will stick at the side of […]

Petrosains KLCC

The last I went to Petrosains KLCC was end of 2006 when I was pregnant with Ethan. I was working with Smart Reader Kids then and was leading the kids for their field trip. Yesterday, when we planned to utilize the free Petrosains vouchers given by Disney Junior, I […]
