Petrosains KLCC

The last I went to Petrosains KLCC was end of 2006 when I was pregnant with Ethan. I was working with Smart Reader Kids then and was leading the kids for their field trip. The kids were 5 and 6 years old then but they did not enjoy the trip. We completed the entire place in less than 2 hours!

Yesterday, when we planned to utilize the free Petrosains vouchers given by Disney Junior, I told Darling that we need maximum only 2 hours in there. Today, we entered Petrosains shortly before noon. Having just had our late breakfast, I thought we’ll take roughly an hour or a little bit more in there so we decided to enter without taking our lunch.

We were wrong as Ethan (turning 5 in July) enjoyed himself so much in there that it took us 2 hours just to complete a quarter of  the journey! We decided to go out for lunch mid-way and continue our exploration after that. We spent a total of 5 hours in there today!

Let’s take a look at some of the activities we did…

We took the compulsory Dark Ride into and exiting Petrosains. A short time tunnel journey in the dark. We enjoyed this :D

Petrosains KLCC

Ethan was fascinated with this Tornado maker and even puts his hands inside to feel the wind as the speed increases.

This is another of his favourite. I think all kids love this Plasma Tube.

Ethan spends a considerably long time over here playing with energy. What he needed to do was to arrange those pipes so that when he releases a ball, it will go through right to the end. Common sense, gravity, momentum and more are involved in this game. He enjoyed this so much that he was reluctant to leave.

This Hydraulic Pump is also the kids’ favourite. You can really be Bob the Builder here. It works like a real digger and Ethan was so engrossed in digging and transferring pebbles.

That was why I said in the beginning of the post that we took 2 hours just to complete a quarter of the journey!

This 3D game tickles him. The car looks so real there isn’t it? But we can’t touch it as it is only a hologram. He kept on trying to hold it! :D

And then we came to Geotime Diorama where the dinosaur can SING or better… RAP!

Ethan and Darling looking at other prehistoric animals.

There is even an active volcano in there!

Some of the prehistoric animals in Geotime Diorama.

Science Show

The above picture, I don’t know what that is called BUT that is certainly a favourite among the kids! They work together to keep it running for it requires a great teamwork to keep it working. It is so nice to see the kids of multi races and age getting together, helping each other just to make this work!

There is even a Tots area for little tots to play. I saw a Daddy dozzing off in there -.-

This is another interesting activity. The screen shows pebbles dropping down and when you stand in front of it, the pebbles will drop on your shadow! Fascinating!

We paid RM3 each for the above simulation ride. See the insert pic. That is what it looks like during the ride. I know we are not supposed to take pictures of the ride but I just can’t help it :P Ethan enjoyed this a lot and proudly declared that he is now fit to ride a roller coaster in Genting! Yeah right!!!

Ethan looks so cute during the ski simulator. He is supposed to keep as low as possible to gain maximum speed. Look at him trying to be as low and small possible! He achieved a speed of 170km while I only managed 166km!

Darling and Ethan enjoyed the many racing simulators there.

Giant keyboard!

Ini paling shiok!

Goal keeper simulation! Darling and Ethan enjoyed themselves keeping the balls out of the goal. They really enjoyed this!

Look at them! Hahaha.. I think Darling enjoyed Petrosains as much as Ethan!

Here, Ethan made all those insects move using the light. He also learned about solar power, renewable energy and more from the staffs there.

Painting time! We had great fun painting here.

Ethan and the silly mirror!

We had such a great time there today and went home happy :)

wah.. so much difference from those days when I was volunteering there… those days, we don’t charge for the stimulator heli ride, but of course, at that time, it doesn’t have so much attractions like now… must enter one of these days again… my vouchers are still in the envelopes!!

Interesting. This place is really worth going. Entrance fee is quite reasonable. I miss that when we were in KLCC previously. I should cut down on my shopping time and bring my girls there.

  • //

WOW, i miss this place, feel like visiting again :(

  • //

time for me to dig out those tixs and plan a trip there with Cavan.

Cool! I haven’t been to Petrosains before but Chloe went there on her kindy field trip last year. Like you said, only about 2 hours there, I don’t think she fully enjoyed it plus there were too many kids “fighting” to play those things with her. Will bring her there again one of these days :)
