Best playground hunt: Pusat Sains Negara

One of the BEST playground around has got to be the one in Desa Park City. I’ve blogged about it last year. Read more about the playground in Desa Park City. Last week, we were in Pusat Sains Negara for a recording session and the recording happens to be outdoor in the playground. The place was actually closed to public on that day hence the ’empty’ park you see in my pictures. I was impressed […]

Cloth Peg Aeroplane Fridge Magnet

Last month, I posted the tutorial for Ice cream Stick Cloth Peg Aeroplane Fridge Magnet. It was actually done in preparation for the recording of Chiki Boom’s Saya Kreatif segment. Aeroplane Fridge Magnet Last Sunday, it was finally aired on TV2. This episode is extra special to me as they recorded it in my very own studio, Crafty-Crafted Studio. It is also extra special as Ethan is extremely cheeky in this particular episode. He can’t stop […]

Kids Craft: Papier Mache Rocket

Remember we did a papier mache aeroplane pencil case during the school holidays? Ethan loves it so much that I decided to make another one, a rocket this time for him. We were too busy during the school holidays to post this up but yeah, he has TWO papier mache pencil cases now. One for his stationery and another for his colour pencils. He brought the aeroplane and the rocket to Kindy and guess what? […]

Papier Mache Aeroplane Pencil Case

Ethan came home from Kindergarten one day telling me that his friend has this super cool pencil case that can store BOTH pencils and colour pencils. He asked me if we can get something similar for him and I said, we’ll see.. Last weekend when I was in Malacca, my eldest aunt told me about her love for papier mache. She told me how she made many papier mache coin boxes and sold them when […]

Alphabet Adventures

I came home yesterday and found a package on the floor of my car porch! The postman actually just threw the package there! >_< Unwrapped it and saw this book: Alphabet Adventures by Megan Mueli I’ve totally forgotten about this book. Megan actually contacted me some time ago discussing about including a piece of my craft work in her book and we’ve come to an agreement. She did mention that she’ll mail me a copy […]

Egg bullet abstract art

In last Sunday’s Chiki Boom episode, the Chiki Boom gang were involved in a laser tag battle in Galatic Laser @ Mid Valley. With that, I had to come out with a craft that has something to do with laser tag or paintball. I finally came out with this: Egg Bullet Abstract Art All we need are empty egg shells and some acrylic paint. Fill up the eggs with colorful paints and just toss them […]

How to get a kid to eat vegetables

If there is one flaw in Ethan, it must be the fact that he doesn’t like fruits. Getting him to eat fruits is like forcing him to take poison. I’ve given up coaxing him to eat fruits. He doesn’t like juices as well but occasionally will gulp down a glass of freshly blended apple juice just so his Mommy won’t cry that all her efforts has gone to waste.  To balance things up, I have […]

Bottle Cap Chocolate Replica Craft

Chiki Boom

Last Sunday’s Chiki Boom TV2 showcased the Chiki Boom gang visiting a chocolate museum in Kota Damansara. I was required to come out with a chocolate craft for that episode. I squeezed my brain dry trying hard to produce a chocolate craft out of recyclables. I almost gave up, telling the producer that it is not possible until suddenly this idea popped into my head.  Bottle Cap Chocolate Replica As usual, Ethan will have to […]

“… I would like to invite you to come to our show to talk about your experience on Coping With Physical Changes During Pregnancy. it would be a light discussion to share your experience with expectant mothers can cope with the changes such as calcium deficiency, hair fall, water retention etc…” It was a very last minute arrangement. Handprint Face Mask

Last Sunday’s craft on Chiki Boom’s Saya Kreatif is making a face mask out of colored construction paper. As usual, Ethan and I will make a sample before actually teaching the kids. Anyone going for a masquerade ball? :P First, trace the outline of your hand. Repeat on another piece of paper, preferable of different colour. Cut. Repeat on the other paper. Paste both hands together. Decorate. Paste a chopstick at the back and the […]

Telling Time

Ethan loves wearing watch. He has several watches, some still functioning, some the strap kaput-ed and some just went missing >_< Most of his watches are just RM5, bought from Daiso. I don’t buy him expensive watches as I don’t see the need for a kid to strap on hundreds of dollars on his wrist. While shopping the other day, Ethan saw this Adidas watch that he loves very much. It was priced at over […]

Ethan on Chiki Boom’s ‘Saya Kreatif’ TV2

Dried leaf chicken craft

Ethan’s very first appearance on Chiki Boom’s ‘Saya Kreatif’ segment was aired last Sunday but we missed it as we were up in Genting celebrating the famous Thailand’s water festival, Songkran. This week, we made it a point to stay home to catch the second episode of Chiki Boom’s latest season. The episode this week touches on the kids’ journey in FRIM hence the call for a nature art. They did a dried leaf craft […]

Pyssla beads cake

We were given a task to come out with a cake made of boxes. I immediately replied, ‘Impossible!’. Back then I had cereal boxes in mind and was thinking how the heck am I supposed to turn those boxes into cakes?! Our client refused to accept my ‘NO CAN DO’ answer and insists that we come out with something in two days time! @_@ I was so stressed! Today is the final day for submission […]

Second chance at preschool

If you have been following my blog or my FB, you’ll know that we enrolled Ethan for Kindy for the very first time this year in March. Never in our dreams did we expect it would be such a nightmare. You can read about our, or rather Ethan’s nightmare here and here. The last straw was when that particular boy poked Ethan’s ear with a sharp pencil and STILL no action was taken against that […]

Maximising time with your family

Back in the old days, it was easier raising a family. Every member of the family has a role to play. The father being the sole bread winner while the mother cooks, cleans, slaves… And without the need to force, the kids will be doing their chores too. Simple task like washing the toilet and mopping the floor are often done by the kids as the mother needed to make sure there is food on […]

How do you deal with a school bully?

It has been Ethan’s dream to attend preschool since he found out his other friends are also attending it. We had no choice but to give in and let him experience what Kindergarten is all about. I thought since Ethan is already doing well academically, the more important factor of preschool is to socialize hence I did not bother to go for any ‘branded franchise’ kind of Kindy but to just enroll him into the […]

Ice-cream stick airplane fridge magnet

We ate lots of ice-cream during the scorching HOT days recently and instead of disposing those popsicle sticks, we made airplane fridge magnet out of them. Airplane fridge magnet We used a couple of long popsicle stick and one short one (cut from the long stick) and a wooden laundry peg.  Paint the peg with any color of your choice. We used acrylic paint.  Paint the popsicle sticks. Let dry. Glue them together. Glue a magnet […]

Home-school vs Kindergarten

I’ve been home-schooling Ethan since young until early this year. I planned to home-school him all the way until he goes to Primary 1 next year. That is until his friends in the playground asked him why isn’t he going to school. Ethan then started questioning me about school, about Kindergarten. We started talking to Ethan about Kindergarten and the possibility of him attending one. The thought of having friends to study (and play) together […]

Easy Pizza Bento for kids

My (not so) baby finally went to Kindy today. It is his first day but he doesn’t want me to send him so his Dad drove him there instead >_< Big boy now. Going to school on his own without me :D I made pizza bento for his lunch box today.  Pizza bento Brown some meat (sausage, ham or anything of your choice) He loves cheese so I placed cheese in between his bread.  Cut […]

Behind the scene experience

Last Saturday was an extremely hectic day for Ethan and I. It marks the first day both Ethan and I started working with a TV station on a project that will be aired somewhere in April. My role is as the Creative Contributor where I contribute ideas on the crafts that will be made and also to guide the kids on how to make those crafts before recording begins. Ethan’s role is to make the […]

Our Chap Goh Mei Sunday

By the time we woke up on Chap Goh Mei was already noon as we had an extremely hectic day before. Will blog about that later.  In the evening, we went to this Kindergarten that Ethan will be attending next month as I’ve already promised a friend (at the very last minute) to help her out in a Red Packet Craft competition. We only got together the night before to work out on what could […]

Light Bulb Bumble Bee

When we were back in our hometown recently, we saw many used light bulbs. I took one back to the Studio and let Ethan paint it as I remembered seeing this cute bumble bee here.  Paint the entire bulb yellow and let dry.  Paint the entire small end of the bulb black. Paint black stripes and let dry. Glue eyes. Make wings out of white chenille stems and glue. Make antenna and also the stinger […]

Angpow Flower Lantern

We are going to make a Chinese New Year Angpow Flower Lantern today. TUTORIAL VIDEO Angpow flower lantern We’ll need 60 pieces of square angpows. It is getting rather difficult to get square red packets these days as the ones I got are mostly rectangular ones and these are my final 60 square ones :( Fold half and fold the flip down. Staple.
