Our Winter Solstice Celebration
We went back to my mom’s place last weekend to help her “gelek Kueh Ee”. I go back hometown at least once a month but it has been ages since I last went back specially for this as we always avoided going back to Melaka during this time of the year due to the horrendous traffic jam.
Somehow this year we decided to just brave the jam and make it home after receiving this picture message from my Mom:
How can we say NO after seeing that? I’m so glad we did make it home as I have totally forgotten what it feels like to just be there and help her roll these glutinous balls. It is even more fun and memorable as the boys participated too.
So there we were, rolling balls together while reminiscing the good ol’ days.
We call these glutinous balls “Kueh Ee”
Since the theme is balls that weekend, my father bought chicken rice balls to go with the glutinous balls.
Jemput makan.
This boy can roll excellently.
All his time playing with Play Doh at home has contributed significantly towards the making of Kueh Ee.
Goodbye PIGGY, Hello MOUSEY!
Our next trip home will be for Chinese New Year in a month’s time. Can’t wait!
