Herbal Hair Treatment for Grey Hair, Itchy Scalp and Hair Loss
I don’t understand why people would want to bleach their hair. Here I am struggling to get rid of strands of my greying hair while others opt to decolourize their perfectly healthy hair.
I always thought I have it under control though as I get Ethan to help me pluck them during his free time. Recently though, Ethan told me I may go bald if he were to pluck all my grey hair away. I brushed him off saying what utter nonsense he is talking about. Surely one to ten strands of grey hair won’t do much harm…
To prove his point, he took a picture of my hair and to my horror, we are no longer talking about one to ten strands of grey hair. We are now talking about.. no, I don’t know what we should talk about.
I am still in a state of denial. It’s impossible I have that many grey hair on my head.
So how now brown cow? I resorted to do what many others usually do – dye my hair to cover those grey ones; retouching them monthly when the grey roots start to show. Overtime, my hair starts to get really dry and brittle. They break easily that each time I comb my hair, there is a hair ball stuck on my brush.
One day while waiting for Ayden to finish his class, I saw a lady with her hair full of some kind of brownish/green paste and her head wrapped with plastic with a towel over her shoulder to protect her dress. She casually walked pass me to get her son (from the same school as Ayden). I watched them as they walked across the road into a herbal hair treatment center.
I decided to visit that center last month to get my hair checked.
During scalp analysis, my therapist showed me how thin my hair has become. As you can see from the picture above, my natural hair is thick but those new strands of hair are alarmingly thin. Not only that, each follicle is supposed to have at least 3 strands of hair but mine are mostly single or two strands at the most.
Further checks show that my scalp is covered with stubborn dead cells that prevent oxygen and nutrition absorption causing hair thinning and eventually hair loss.
And yes, she also noted that I have greying hair issue.
I decided to give their herbal hair treatment a try to see how it can help with my problems.
I recorded the procedure but did not take any pictures so what I’m sharing below are screen shots from my video (above).
My therapist Carmen started by applying Ginger Wine on my scalp to stimulate and open up pores during steaming in order to remove any impurities on the scalp and for the herbal ingredients to be absorbed.
She also applied olive oil on my hair ends before steaming to ease out split ends and improve hair condition and shine texture. This is only applicable for long hair.
Next, she applied chemical-free herbal paste directly onto the scalp and hair ends.
Once done, she wrapped my head with plastic and headband to avoid leakage during steaming (this is why the lady I saw the other day at Ayden’s school has her head wrapped with plastic!)
Steaming process takes 45 minutes for all the active ingredients to be fully absorbed into the hair and scalp. However, if you have high blood pressure, the steaming duration will be reduced to 30 minutes.
Lastly, my hair is washed. Conditioner applied on the hair ends and rinsed off.
My hair is towel dried and blown to be partially dry. Hair is left a little damp to allow better absorption of the herbs ingredients.
After treatment, the scalp analysis shows that my grey hair is now a nice hue of golden brown. The treatment covers my grey hair perfectly with its natural chemical-free herbal dye. My scalp is cleaner with the follicles less congested.
The price for my hair length is RM144. I find that reasonable as it covers all my hair problems.
