Chinese New Year Feast @ Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur

Dynasty Restaurant (Non-Halal), Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin and his team of talented chefs are all set to engulf our senses with Festive Menus that capture the finest flavours of Cantonese cuisine from 18 January to 22 February 2016 in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

We were privileged to be invited to preview their CNY Festive Menus this evening.

Dynasty Restaurant offers 6 types of Yee Sang – Fruity Fiesta, Salmon, Salmon and Smoked Salmon, Lobster and Salmon, Mini Abalone and Salmon, and Three Treasure accompanied with crunchy vegetables, crackers and condiments.

We sampled the refreshing Fruity Fiesta this evening. Dragon fruit, strawberry, papaya, honeydew and pear are among the fruits that can be found in this plummy Yee Sang. 

Available in “half serving” and “full serving,” take-away Yee Sang can also be arranged for home reunion dinners and special get-togethers. The Yee Sang is priced from RM108nett for a half portion and RM198nett for a full portion.

We started our meal with this Ocean Treasure Soup with Crabmeat. Bountiful gems such as crab meat, prawns and mushrooms are found swimming in this hearty ocean. 

Up next was this Fortune Combination Platter. Stir-fried asparagus with generous whole abalones sit cosily in a nest of rice noodles while other prosperous items such as Money Bags, deep fried yam dumpling with prawn and deep fried salted egg yolk nestled comfortably at the foot of that intricate carving.

The sun-dried oyster, fatt choy and flower mushrooms comes with slices of pork meat (siew yoke) hidden beneath the mushrooms. 

Grilled prawns in spicy sauce is not at all spicy. It is actually more similar to the sweet & sour dish we are accustomed to. 

We also had this Stir-fried Hong Kong Kai Lan with Wild Mushroom. 

Braised Pork Knuckle with Fresh Mushroom and Sea Cucumber is not something we can find in hotel restaurants these days as most restaurants in hotels are either Halal certified or Pork Free. Dynasty Restaurant is one of the better Non-Halal restaurants in the Klang Valley. 

Diners should also check out the selection of non-halal Dim Sum specially crafted by Chef Kin for the festive season available daily for lunch.

One of Dynasty’s best seller of the season is the Clay Pot Waxed Meat Rice, a classic Chinese New Year dish priced at RM39nett per portion.

A Chinese New Year reunion meal is not complete without this signature waxed meat dish. 

We ended our meal with this Fortune Pastries – Nin Gao coated with shredded coconut and fruit tarts.

Last but not least, we had sweetened fungus, mixed jelly and soya bean tongsui for a beautiful ending to a hearty meal.

There are 7 festive set menus suitable for 2 persons and groups of 5, 6 or 10 persons. The 7-course Prosperity Treasure Sets priced at RM838nett and RM1,088nett and appropriate for groups of 5 come with Salmon Yee Sang and a Prosperity Treasure Pot. The 7-course Double Happiness Set is priced at RM428nett is to be shared by 2 persons while the 8-course Chinese New Year Set for 6 persons is priced at RM988nett.

For diners dining with a group of 10 persons, the lavish 9-course set menus of Happiness Set, Fortune Set and Longevity Set are priced at RM1,598nett, RM1,988nett and RM2,888nett­­ respectively. These set menus come with Yee Sang for diners to toss to their luck and good fortune.
