Kafe Go To School @ Solaris Mont Kiara
Solaris Mont Kiara is also widely known as “Korean Town” due to the countless Korean eateries and beauty salons around. One particular cafe however stands out from the rest thanx to their colourful painted furniture outside the restaurant.
The furnitures will bring your memory back to school though I don’t remember the tables and chairs in my former school being this vibrant :D
The place I’m talking about is situated next to 7-11 and is called Kafe Go to School.

A menu sits on a school chair to welcome us to class.
As soon as we are in class, the boys are given a set of equally colourful cutleries. Ayden is ready to dig in :)
The kids spent their time at the children’s corner while waiting for food to be served. They are allowed to scribble on the walls and play with whatever they have there.
Hae Mul Pa Jeon / Korean Seafood Scallion Pancake (RM24)
Originating from the city of Busan in south-east Korea where it is eaten warm as a snack, haemul pajeon is a seafood and spring onion pancake. It is a savory Korean-style pancake made with scallions and shellfish thrown into it. This fritters actually make a great finger-food to start our dinner.
We ordered a set of Passion Bento with 1 whole chicken (RM88) to share. We did not expect it to be so huge.
It comes with:
- 1/2 fried Yang Neum Chicken with sweet chilli sauce
- 1/2 fried chicken (non-spicy)
- Jab chae stir fried Korean glass noodles with vegetables
- Kimchi Bibim Guksu cold noodles with an egg
- Kim Male Ri fried glass noodles covered with seaweed + rice balls
It is ideal for 3 to 4 pax if this is the only food that you are going to have for dinner but we ordered some other stuffs too so this is pretty much good to share amongst the 8 of us adults (and 4 kids).
So gal bi jjim / Braised short ribs steamed in soy sauce seasoning with carrots, radish/chestnut and jujube (RM126)
This is my favourite dish here. This popular Korean dish is often served at special occasions such as New Year and weddings as part of a shared meal.
The short ribs is braised for one whole day with special soy sauce made of 9 different kinds of natural ingredients such as korean pear, apple, pineapple, ginseng and more. The flavour is very much present in the tender meat that breaks apart from the bones easily. Dont let the picture fool you, this is a well portioned serving.
One short rib is this long. I had at least 2 of these succulent ribs to myself because it just melts in my mouth. So yummy.
It was a cold evening so we ordered this Dakk Han ma ri/Korean-Style Broth Hot Pot (RM70) to share too. Well it literally means “one chicken” (dak = chicken, han mari = one of) and sure enough this dish consist of a whole big chicken cooked in vegetable and jinseng in broth.
Once the soup is boiling, we can make Kalguksu too with this broth. Just add Korean hand mand noodles (RM10) into the soup. By now the soup will be very flavorful from the chicken and all.
Kimchi Jjigae (RM23)
Soft tofu stew-like dish cooked with kimchi beef and bulgogi. It’s a warm, hearty and spicy soup. Have this with a bowl of warm rice topped with fried egg.
Cheese Kimchi Bulgogi Rice Burger (RM19.90)
A burger that’s been reinvented Asian style; both the bun and the filling. Flavoursome kimchi, cheese and bulgogi sandwiched between two rice patties making this a very piquant meal. It is not for the kids though as the kimchi with chili paste is really spicy.
Korean Original Kimbab (RM11.90)
This is a Korean sushi roll made of steamed white rice with bulgogi meat, assorted vegetables and omelette filling rolled in dried seaweed. The rice is seasoned with sesame oil and salt rather than vinegar and sugar. There is no need for dipping sauce as everything is properly seasoned to create that perfect well-balanced bite.
Salmon Roll (RM27.90)
Salmon Rice Pizza (RM35)
We also ordered this salmon and tobiko caviar on a bed of crispy rice cake specially for the kids.
Korean Bingsus are all the rage now. If you are ever dining here at Kafe Go to School, you have got to try their Bingsus. They pride themselves to be serving one of the best Bingsu in this ‘Korean Town’ so you better give it a try. We tried not only one but THREE that evening.
Each Bing Su is good to share with at least 3 friends as the servings are huge.
We had their new U-Ja Cheesecake Bing Su.
A huge portion of fine and extra fluffy milky ice shavings with a slice of rich blueberry cheesecake that is so sinfully refreshing.
Green Tea Bing Su (RM24.90)
This is a huge bowl of fluffy milky ice shavings, topped with a generous layer of matcha and a full scoop of green tea ice-cream on a bed of sweet adzuki paste.
The kids went crazy with this Very, Very Thank You Bingsu (RM33) as it is beautifully presented. We love the colour and everything about it. This seems like one of the ‘healthier’ choice as it is generously topped with fruits such as blueberries and strawberries. It is also sprinkled with cornflakes and topped with a scoop of Gelato ice-cream.
Kafe Go to School is run by a Malaysian man married to a Korean wife together with his Korean sister-in-law. You can actually spot these two fair and lovely Korean ladies in the cafe as the sister-in-law is the master chef behind those outstanding dishes.
