Ayden is TWO!

Every time on a kid’s birthday, the mother will start with the saying, “It feels just like yesterday… “ Indeed it feels just like yesterday we welcomed Ayden into this world on Merdeka Day. My Merdeka baby Ayden, born on the 31 August 2013, 3 weeks earlier than his estimated delivery date. A year ago he cut his very first cake. Big brother Ethan decided the theme and decor for Ayden’s birthday bash. Today, he […]

Homegrown Organic Spinach in Pots

Okay, so you have seen my homegrown organic okras and grape cherry tomatoes. Today, it’s time for me to introduce my garden of spinach. They are all grown in pots as I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I do not have any land for gardening. Again, I did not purchase any seeds to start my spinach garden. What happened was I bought a bundle of spinach from my favourite grocer shop. Those spinach comes attached with […]

Dorsett Grand Subang’s Halal Mooncakes

I am over the moon because I just won myself some mooncakes, 4 to be exact. I saw the contest being posted on their FB page at 6pm. My heart palpitated as I watched the youtube video to find out the answers as the first 3 to comment correctly will take home their Jewels of Mid-Autumn box holding 4 mooncakes. Maybe because it was 6pm and everybody is on the way home from work or something […]

Unifi-ed but something got FRIED!

After what seems like an eternity fighting for an available Unifi port in our area, we are finally Unifi-ed last Saturday.  The cable man came and I half expected him to be like Adam Sandler in Pixels but … :P Anyway, the installation caused quite a huge mess at home. We spent the entire day cleaning up when we found this: Actually it was Darling who found it while reorganising the cables.  Do you have […]

After the successful maiden attempt at making our own bread using my new breadmaker, I baked another loaf of basic bread and am happy that it turned out very well too. Last night, I tried baking raisin loaf using sweet bread recipe. Ingredients for 700g of Sweet Bread: 270ml water 2 tbsp oil 1 tsp salt 3 tbsp sugar 1 1/2 tbsp milk powder 3 cups flour 1 tsp breadmaker yeast Refer to the above […]

Why do people insists on dressing siblings the same?

I don’t have a daughter. If I do, I am sure to dress her the same as me from time to time. It would be fun to have a mini me parading the same outfit as mine. But yeah, I don’t have a daughter. So what I did was: I dressed the father and son similar. This was before we have Ayden. I have yet to get a similar outfit for all three of them.  […]

Easy basic bread recipe

Darling has this habit of forgetting to redeem the points from his credit cards before they expire. He has wasted several thousand points because of this. The other day, I reminded him to redeem something before his points expires again. He said he’ll look into it. What I did not know was he redeemed a breadmaker for me until one fine day a courier guy delivered it to me. I was over the moon when I […]

The little rascal

Remember back in April I was complaining regarding Ayden drawing on the walls, cabinets, floor and all? *recycle pic* I am glad that was only temporary and lasted only a couple of days. These days, he still likes to scribble a lot but at least he does it on papers.  His latest craze is crayons. Look at his choice of colour. He likes purple and orange a lot.  This is him coloring during my tuition […]

Homegrown Okras in Pots

You’ve seen my homegrown organic grape cherry tomatoes, now let me introduce to you my homegrown organic okras. This is how I grow my okras. Again, I did not purchase the seed for this project. I took dried seeds from my mom’s homegrown okra to start my garden of okra in pots. Okra is very easy to grow as it grows best in hot weather like ours so if you wish to start an urban […]

Inside Out

Inside Out is a computer animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. When I found out Nuffnang is giving away premiere tickets to this, I know I have to get hold of them as I never want to miss anything by Pixar. So there we were last night, in GSC 1Utama to catch the premiere screening of Inside Out. Don’t say I bo jio you okay. I gave out a […]

Horlicks Chocolate

It was rather disheartening when we received Ethan’s report card late last year. It was not because of his result but more to his growth chart. His height remained the same throughout the entire year while his weight increased a mere 2kg. I poured out my worries on Facebook and many experienced mothers advised me to give Ethan Horlicks for breakfast as it contains 23 growth nutrients such as calcium for strong bones and protein […]

DIY Minion Stationery Holder

During the long school holidays late last year, I held a craft lesson for some of Ethan’s classmates at one of his classmate’s parent’s tuition centre. The kids made Minion pencil holder.  Minion Pencil Holder using toilet paper roll and colored paper.  Recently, I have some extra time so I decided to make one again. This time I used colored felt for a better finish.  I get Ayden to help me glue the toilet paper […]

Growing Our Own Tomatoes

When we moved into our house slightly over a decade ago, I did not like gardening yet so Darling tiled up the entire car porch. Now after having two kids, I find comfort in growing my own greens BUT I don’t have the land anymore for that and has to resort to growing everything in pots. I wasn’t even serious when I started my urban garden. I did not purchase any seeds. In fact, my […]

Our Hunt For Coin-Counting Machines

It took the kids quite some time to collect this much coins: But it took us longer to find a coin-counting machine that works. We went to many banks, searching high and low only to be told that their coin-counting machines are out of order OR their cut out time is 11am. Who on Earth goes out to deposit coins so early? Okay maybe it is only ME who does not leave the house before […]

Pixels Movie

We’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. That is because Nuffnang has been very generous and been holding so many movie premiere screenings the past months or so. Furthermore, most of these screenings are held in 1Utama so it’s a plus point. Yes, the location is very important as we’ll only go for movies in 1Utama, The Curve or around that area. KLCC is a definite NO! The value of the tickets wont be […]

Feeding Ayam Kampung

We went back to my in-law’s place last Sunday and Ayden requested to feed the chickens. To him it’s like a trip to a petting zoo. I used to get very annoyed with these chickens I tell you. It’s not so much the chickens that I hate but their droppings. They are every where and the worst is when you stepped on it before entering the car.  But now with kids, I tend to mellow […]

Homemade Blueberry Yogurt Popsicle

It’s been quite some time since we last made some frozen popsicles. It’s been raining almost every evening but who says we can’t have frozen popsicles on a cool, rainy day? :P  So I took out a packet of blueberries from the fridge, soaked, rinsed and dumped them into my blender with freshly squeezed apple juice and yogurt.  Give it a few swirl until the yogurt turned a pinkish purple. No, it’s not going to […]

Extracting his own tooth

Ethan’s first milk tooth extraction was last year to remove both his lower central incisors when we spotted new teeth growing behind them. We brought him to the dentist to get them removed as I was afraid the new teeth will grow crooked if the milk teeth were not removed. Thank goodness his permanent teeth grew nicely aligned.  A month ago, his upper central incisor started to feel shaky. It was the first time he experienced […]

Our First Time Bowling Together

My first time bowling was back in college days. My brother-in-law would bring me bowling whenever he had the free time. I remember breaking my fingernails the first time I bowled as I wasn’t aware we are not supposed to have long fingernails to bowl. It was quite a painful experience :( I never go bowling with Darling during our courting days. I don’t even know he can bowl! Haha :P During the school holidays […]

TP Roll Multi-Storey Toy Car Garage

Both the boys have too many toy cars scattering on the floor. I decided to help them build a multi-storey garage last weekend. We used the larger toilet paper rolls for this project. We used 15 rolls for this multi-storey garage. Maybe we can build a bigger one next. Stick double sided tape on the TP Rolls. Stick them together as you wish. We made three levels with 5 garages on each level. Ayden seemed […]

Road Safety, Traffic Rules for Kids

The rainy season is here again. In fact, it has been raining a lot this year don’t you think so? I have to wake up early to do my laundry or they won’t be able to dry on time as it always rains in the evenings. Ayden and I are so bored being ‘prisoners’ at home not being able to go to the playground that I finally signed him up for an indoor gym package. […]

Vandalism

We’ve been staying here from the moment they completed this housing project until today. Been over a decade I think. Ethan frequent the playground often when he was younger. It was nicer back then. These days it is not so nice anymore. Most of the equipments in the playground has fallen victims to vandalism. Poor Ayden. He can’t really enjoy the playground as much as Ethan had.  See? His head pops out from the slide like […]
