Winter Melon Tea Recipe
Winter melon is slightly cool in nature. Drinking winter melon tea in these prolonged hot days is a great way to combat heat. It is sweet in taste, helps to detoxify, clears out mucus and phlegm and promotes digestion. Winter melon’s diuretic effect helps to eliminate water retention. It contains potassium that helps flush out sugars and waste through our urinary tract.
Not a fan of drinking packet drinks, I like to boil my own winter melon tea. Thank goodness boiling your own winter melon tea is extremely easy.
Fresh winter melon is sweet but they’ll lose their sweetness over time hence it is important to try getting those young and fresh melons if possible.
Slice the winter melon. Remove skin and seed. Cube them.
In a pot, boil the winter melon with water. Add brown sugar.
Refreshing winter melon tea is now ready. It can be served warm or chilled. I prefer chilled.

I love the cooling and refreshing wintermelon! I am also not feeling well these few day. Heaty. Headache. A bit of heat stroke I think. Been drinking lots cooling tea.
I like this drink. Boiling this at home is so much better than those sold in packets. Your 3 boys are really lucky to have you boiling this for them to drink in this hot weather. :)
My mother use to put water into a winter melon and slowly double boil it I think. Then we will drink the water and scoop out the winter melon flesh to eat. She sometimes boil it as a sweet dessert soup but sometimes as a savoury soup. Both are very nice.

Actually we can cook the skin and seed together, I saw a cooking program before, they actually boil everything together, more nutritious ;)
