How to draw the STAR of our Jalur Gemilang?

With Merdeka Day just around the corner, Ethan has been learning a lot about patriotism and singing the Jalur Gemilang and Satu Malaysia songs everyday in Kindy. Yesterday, he brought home his homework and proudly showed me the Jalur Gemilang he drew in class.  I find it amazing that he is able to draw the STAR as I always find it difficult during my school days. I told him that my star always ended up […]

Gartien Pineapple Cake – A little piece of Penang

Facebook can sometimes work wonders! I’ve seen several or should I say MANY Penang-langs posting the famous Gartien Pineapple cake on Facebook (especially with the Mid Autumn festival around the corner). I’ve eaten Pineapple Cake ONCE and ONCE only during a Taiwanese food promotion in 2011 where we also got to witness the Chef making the pineapple cake right before our very own eyes. That was my one and only time savoring this delicious delicacy. […]

How to replace wallpaper border

You know we are busy spring cleaning our house right? Just the other day I gave my old side table a brand new look. Read all about it here. Last weekend, we peeled all our old wallpaper borders and replaced them with new ones. Ethan helped me this time.  This border is like more than a decade old, peeling off on its own already so we have to replace it.  Wipe the wall clean before […]

Surprise Rainbow Cake

Ethan’s birthday was in July and his favourite KorKor Xiang wanted to celebrate with him but unfortunately he wasn’t around that time. We tried to celebrate a little later after that but both parties were tied up with dunno what and only managed to meet up today.  Xiang insisted to bake a cake for Ethan just like last year and I thought to meet outside for lunch or dinner but this dude wanted to COOK […]

Eating With Your Fingers

I grew up eating my meals using my fingers. I don’t really like using fork and spoon. But all that changed during college as my mates all ate ‘poshly’ using fork and spoon so I don’t feel comfortable using my fingers in front of them. I was always self-conscious during college as I was the only ‘kampung girl’ among those town girls :( Eating with one’s hands is a technique that can be quite clean […]

Giving an old table a new look

I’ve been doing some spring cleaning at home for the past several weeks. Yeah, I’ve not really been cleaning my house for ages! I saw this poor ugly table at a corner; full of dust and cobwebs. I’ve had this little side table since college if I’m not mistaken.  It is so ugly now that I gave it a wipe and paint all over it except the bottom part, knowing that no one will be […]

Delectable Dining @ The Emperor Restaurant, Dorsett Grand Subang

Remember I blogged about having mooncake feast in Dorsett Grand Subang recently? The one where the little boy sulked big time coz I limit his mooncakes to 9 pieces only? If you don’t, here’s the comic to refresh your memory or you can just refer to my blog post here. Anyway, what I wanted to share today is the scrumptious dinner that we had BEFORE the mooncake feast.  Located at the Mezzanine floor of Dorsett […]

SS2 Goreng Pisang, 1 Utama

Was in 1U last weekend when I spotted this long queue. Long queue means there’s something good, right? Since I was so free that time, I joined the queue too. Not knowing what I was queuing for initially but then I found out that it was THE much hyped SS2 Goreng Pisang that has been the talk of the town especially in Facebook. After queuing for about 5 minutes, it was finally my turn to […]

A MUST-DO Before Purchasing A New Mattress

I’ve posted in my Facebook Page some time last week that we are mattress hunting as the one that Darling and I are currently sleeping on is almost a decade old! :O There are so many things to consider before we make up our mind as mattresses don’t come cheap these days. Since Darling and I are no longer young, we have to seriously consider getting a good mattress to support our crackling spines but […]

Shell Select Doraemon & Friends Collection

I guess it’s safe to say that the McD Minion craze is over and done with? Darn those kiasu people, now Ethan can’t just purchase any McD toy without buying the Happy Meal set anymore. We used to be able to just drive through and ask for a toy at RM3 and drive away but not anymore. We have to order a Happy Meal now no matter what toy is selling… We were in my […]

Mooncake feast at Dorsett Grand Subang

When will we be celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival this year? With Ramadhan over and people slowly making their way back into the city after their Hari Raya break, we found out that it is that time of the year again where the Chinese community around the world celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival or most of us would deliciously remember it as Mooncake savouring time.  A couple of evenings ago, Darling, Ethan and I dined at The […]

Learn Physics at Petrosains KLCC

Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and Michael Faraday. What do all 4 of them have in common? No, it’s not their WACKY hairstyles!! It’s PHYSICS! Physics i.e ‘knowledge of nature’ is the natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force in order to understand how the universe behaves. You’re ‘lost’ already? Me too. I can only remember Albert […]

School Holiday Project: Stamping Art

Ethan is having almost 2 weeks of school holidays and I’m already losing track of the days of the week. It happens when we are too free and need not remember what day it is today unlike during school days when every Monday means SPELLING, Wednesdays means EJAAN and Thursdays means TING XIE.  We did not go out of town as we dread the heavy traffic jam so I kept Ethan occupied at home. We […]

Mom’s in town

We did not balik kampung during the holidays as I dread being caught in the massive jam. My sister told me that my parents will be up in KL instead and that is just perfect! I knew that instantly that we will all be pampered with Mom’s home-cooked meals! I quickly gave my mom a call and asked her if she can cook mee siam for me as I’ve been craving for it for ages!  […]

First boating experience

Ethan, Darling and I have never experienced boating anywhere. We frequent Genting Outdoor Theme Park like monthly but never tried boating there due to Ethan not being tall enough until recently when he finally exceeded the minimum height requirement. Excitedly he told the father he wanted to go for it and so they did. They queued for half an hour (or more) before it was finally their turn. The Daddy helped the lil’ one with […]

How to wash pillows

Howdy peeps! I’ve ONE question to ask – Do you WASH your pillows?  The weather is extremely hot these days, well at least to ME it IS hot! I sweat each time I take my afternoon nap and sometimes at nights too (even with the air-cond switched ON). Was joking with Darling that I’m experiencing menopause already! >_< I do wash our pillows periodically. The thing is, I can only fit in ONE pillow at […]

DIY Handphone Charger Holder

How many of you charges your handphone this way and worry that some elephant might stomp on it when you are not watching?  I used to do it this way until that day when I saw a genius creation of a handphone charger holder being made out of plastic shampoo container being shared on Facebook.  Well, I don’t think I can even cut a shampoo container so I decided to make do with a milk […]
