My Nuffnang Story

When I gave up my job to be a Stay At Home Mother, I almost grew cobwebs all over me. I was at home day in, day out without any interaction to the outside world. I got so jaded that I almost went crazy. Back then I did not even know what is the meaning of a BLOG or BLOGGING. My only time going online is to chat in MSN and Yahoo Messenger and mind you, I was on dial-up back then. Time was ticking each time I go online and connection was crappy.

One fine day I saw my friend Kimmy and Julie sharing their newborn’s update via their blog Bonded Together. I enjoyed reading their updates and got hooked to their blog. I looked forward to their updates and checked their blog everyday. That was the only blog I knew and read back then. I did not know that we can create our very own blog for free. I thought it will cost me an arm and a leg to own a blog.

Somehow, one fine day I found out that we can actually create a free blogspot account and I did. I started submerryn.blogspot.com end of October 2008. It was ad free and full of crap :P

I only found out about Nuffnang in December 2008 when I read in the newspaper that Sawanila.com won a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland in the Friso/Nuffnang contest. I was seriously a noob then (still is NOW actually) and believe it or not I was still using dial-up to blog back then. I did not even know how to insert the Nuff ad codes into my blog and took several days just to figure it out. Looking at the html codes is enough to scare a newbie like me and being a ‘bodoh sombong’ I did not ask anybody for help. Actually I did ask one of my cousin but she said html codes are hard to decipher and these are something that you learn in Uni blah, blah, blah and since I am a ‘high school dropout’ :P I was scared even further. After trying on my own for TWO days, I finally managed to insert those codes in my blog! I was so happy dunno for what.. maybe it was my first accomplishment in blogging. I felt like I’ve conquered the world!

Days passed and I saw RM0.20 in my Nuffnang account. I jumped like I’ve just hit the jackpot! It’s not so much the money, it’s the satisfaction that the blog is actually generating ‘income’. Months passed and nine month later Nuffnang delivered my FIRST ever pay cheque of RM58.46. I blogged about it here.

It got better after that and 3 months later I got another cheque of RM106.58.

 It is almost 3 years now that I’m with Nuffnang and my last pay cheque was this as blogged here.

I’ve just cashed out my latest earnings several weeks ago and am still waiting for the cheque to arrive.

It’s been a very fun journey throughout these 3 years and I’ve made countless friends along the way. Each of them helped make me a better person.

People asked me why I stuck by Nuffnang throughout the years and my answer is simply because, “They are legit. They pay what they promised and they have the funkiest bloggers around!” Attend any Nuffnang events and you’ll be sure to see some pretty hot and happening bloggers around.

Step 2:
Your blog post must include information about the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards as below (can be re-written in your own words if you wish):

Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers from around the Asia-Pacific region will flock to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 in Putrajaya Marriott. The Awards aims to not only honour the region’s best bloggers, but also to bring together blogger communities from across Asia-Pacific. By the way, I tried my luck the following year for that Disneyland trip in the Nuffnang Friso event but though my entry was in the Top Ten, we did not win that trip. We won RM100 Toys R Us vouchers instead.. I will NOT give up. I’ll try and try again but this year don’t have leh? o.O
