Proton Saga – The very first National car
This was my Dad’s first brand new car. Those days, people drove mostly second hand cars until Malaysia came out with her very own pride and joy – the Proton Saga.
Do you know that the name “Saga” was chosen from the winner of the contest which was held to choose the first car’s name, Ismail Jaafar, a retired military soldier.
Dad immediately bought this beauty and took care of it so well. A decade later, its mileage was just 100,000km. For nearly 22 years, the first-generation Saga is the longest surviving Proton model to date, ahead of its mid size car the Proton Perdana.
Then we got Dad an Iswara and took over his very first car. That was decades ago.
Today, Dad’s very first car is still with us. We rarely drive it anymore. It spent most of its time sitting idle in front of our house. Darling was thinking of selling it off but do you know that it will be worth more if sold to the scrapyard as opposed to second hand car dealers?
Then I found out that there is such a thing as car donation charities
. The car donation
is aimed at helping veterans who have fought their lives for us to be where we are today. Now, it is our time to give back.
You may choose to donate a car, truck, van or anything that you find comfortable donating to Purple Heart car donation
. All donations are tax deductable and the vehicle you donated will be able to help those who have selflessly given so much to others.
