Penang’s Latest Family Attraction: Jurassic Research Center @ The TOP, KOMTAR

Penang has long been enticing visitors with its beautiful coasts and scrumptious cuisines. This beautiful island welcomes modernity yet at the same time preserves its traditions and old world charm.

I remember visiting KOMTAR, the tallest building in Penang when I was little. It has been THAT long ago.

Last weekend I found myself back, this time at The TOP, KOMTAR with the boys to visit Jurassic Research Center, one of the latest attractions here.

The TOP @ KOMTAR is a revitalised urban icon which was conceptualized and brought to life by Only World Group (OWG).

Fossil Excavation Site

From fossils to dinosaur hatchling, Jurassic Research Center is home to more than 200 dinosaurs.

The boys witnessing the planet’s prehistoric past in this hands-on interactive activity center.

Watch these mysterious creatures come to life right before your eyes.

When T-rex is around, I better not go near :-o

But since you insist, I’ll get a little closer, just a little to get a better shot. All for the sake of our beloved readers 8-)

Thank goodness for the dedicated guides who walked with us to explain and answer the boys’ many questions as I have zero knowledge on dinosaurs.

Urm Ayden, I don’t think we are supposed to touch that. 10,000 volts!

For a place like this, pictures just don’t do justice hence we are happy to share our video to give you a better insight on this amazing land before time that has unearthed in Penang.

Let’s watch this video and take a virtual tour with us:

We had a great time here and proceeded to have an enjoyable time at Dino Gym located after the exit of Jurassic Research Center.

I will share more about it in my next post.

Another great attraction in Penang. Time to visit Penang. The last time I went there was back in 1998 with my friends. So overdue! I remember visited Komtar.

The past years I found myself back in Penang quite frequent. Haha.

Want to see dinosaurs, come to Sibu see a real live one, very big and very fat – ME!!! Muahahahahaha!!!!!

    • //

      >_< LoL! What la.....

  • //

looks interesting but all the dinosaurs are in the enclosure and visitors cannot touch them?

    • //

You may touch those within arms length, preferably herbivores. Leave those carnivores alone otherwise they’ll eat you up.

  • //

Good for family with children who loves dinosaurs to visit this. Komtar is smart to have this there.

My boys are crazy over dinosaurs so when we learn about this place a couple of months back, we quickly made plans for this school holidays. Thank goodness we did bcoz they loved it here. Ayden is not at all afraid of those dinosaurs and Ethan listened attentively to the guide.

Yes, it is a smart move to revamp the place by adding all these latest attractions.

Later they really come to live then become the movie Jurassic Park 5: The Jurassic Komtar, featuring Ethan and Ayden as the lead heroes. :D

That’s my hometown! Komtar was once a very happening place until it lost its shine and popularity. I am very amazed and happy that the current LGE gomen could revive it so well with bustling attractions for tourism. Kudos!

Jurassic research center is sooo amazing! I went there during the CNY, the same person who walked with you also brief my family. If im not mistaken, his name zanan or janan i cannot remember it well. My kids love the facts about those dinosaurs he gave to us, my advice if you come to the top komtar especially jurassric research center, do find that ranger as he can answer many questions about dinosaurs. Thanx for sharing!

How long will it take to get round? Is it push chair friendly?
    Thanks

    • //

Give it half an hour (or more if you take your time). If I remember correctly, there is a staircase leading to the view tower (as shown in the video) that is not accessible by push chair.
