HP Print Apps

Darling brought home a new toy for me to play with last week. It’s a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One Printer. It’s amazing how advanced technology is these days. Gone are the days when a printer’s function is to just print. These days, we can print content from the Web directly from the printer without the need to use the computer! Don’t believe? Well, not any printer can do it but this HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One Printer definitely can.

I’ll explain more about it in a bit but first, let’s unbox it.

What’s in the box:

HP 678 Black Ink Cartridge (~480 pages)
HP 678 Tri-colour Ink Cartridge (~150 pages)
Photo paper
Software CD
Setup Poster
Power cord
1.8-meter USB cable.
Cable included
Software included
HP Photo Creations

Yes, they even include a pack of photo paper in it so I can start printing pictures straight from my smartphone (as this printer has a built-in wifi function) before I lose them should my phone crashes AGAIN *touch wood*

Now, let the guys set up the printer.

Little Ayden wanted to help too!

HP Deskjet Web Connected

Once the printer is set up, I need to make sure that it is Web connected so we can print direct from the printer. But before that, let’s download the HP Print Apps.

Create an HP eprint centre account

It’s very simple even Ethan can do it. All we have to do is:

Step 1:
Create an HP ePrint Centre account at hp.nu/C3qCA
Step 2:
Collect our printer’s claiming code by following the instructions here: hp.nu/C3rdV
Step 3:
Click “Add a device” on the Devices tab and enter our printer’s claiming code.
Step 4:
All set! We can now browse through the exclusive HP Printables and download them into our HP Printer.

Touch screen control

This printer comes built with a 2.65-inch (6.7 cm) colour touchscreen controller and memory-card slot. The touchscreen controller makes it so much easier for Ethan to use.

HP Print Apps

With HP Print Apps, we get access to a wide-range of content from HP and companies such as Dreamworks Animation and Rovio (Angry Birds) for FREE! We can choose to print on the spot or schedule for automatic delivery on days most suitable for us.

Angry Bird

Remember I posted on FB this simple Cootie Catcher I made for Ethan? What happened was he came home from school earlier that day and told me that his friend had this awesome ‘toy’ that was made of paper. He also told me that his friend can make the toy ‘talk’ and that was when I guessed he was referring to a cootie catcher. True enough, when I made that, he was extremely happy and kept thanking me like as if I’m the smartest Mommy in the world! ^_^

Imagine Ethan’s delight as he was browsing through the HP Printables from the printer and saw this:

He immediately printed it out. Here’s how easy it was for him to print it. Watch this :

Ethan Angry Bird Cootie Catcher

Once printed he excitedly got me to help him with it. The printout is laser-sharp and super nice!

Angry Bird Art & Craft

I guided him to fold the cootie catcher and there he got it, his very first Cootie Catcher – Angry Bird no less!

HP Print App Origami

He also printed out many Origami instructions from the HP Print App as he is an origami die-hard fan.

Folding origami

He has been folding origami since 2 years old as seen in this picture taken from our craft blog.

These are some of the origami he has pasted on the wall in his room.

I really like the super sharp print quality!

Origami monkey HP Print Apps

I helped Ethan with this origami monkey. It was nice to spend the evening together folding origami. I think I’ll start Ayden with simple origami too in the near future.

With the year-end school holidays just around the corner, this printer will prove to be handy. I can foresee Ethan printing lots of activities for the holidays but it is okay as the ink cartridges are very affordable. What’s more important is we get to spend quality time doing origami, crosswords or even arts and crafts printed from the printer.

I was on Facebook and found out that HP Malaysia Facebook Page is currently running a HP Print Apps contest. All you need to do is print the Origami printables and upload photo of your kids and their origami on HP Malaysia Facebook page. Weekly winner can win home shopping vouchers worth RM100! Do check out their FB page here for more info.

Memory card slot means can print things on the memory card without the PC attached? I love to do origami too but till now cannot invent my own origami. Can only just follow instructions and fold.

    Merryn Reply:

Yes Mun. You can remotely print your pictures from your smartphone straight to the printer.

I love origami too and sad to say I also have yet to create my own origami. We’ve been following instructions and fold too all these while.
