New KIA Optima K5 Launched

It all started from a conversation with Darling’s friend Victor who was planning to get a new car. He was talking to Darling about which executive saloon car should he get with a budget of RM140K-RM160K. Darling mentioned the likes of Camry and Accord but I found something more interesting!

The Kia Optima launched in 2010 took the world by storm with its gorgeous styling. Now it is time for an update with the 2014 model giving it a freshened and a more futuristic look. The new Kia Optima K5 is launched recently!

KIA Optima K5 Front

The new KIA Optima K5 2014

Gorgeous isn’t it? The new facelift features a redesigned front view yet still unmistakably Kia K5’s signature dynamic and aggressive front image.

KIA Optima K5 rear

Major modification is done on the rear view design to add more character to the back.

05 head lamps

With this facelift, the Optima have new front LED positioning and fog lights, along with clear, newly designed LED rear lamps. The LED Daytime Running Light is moved from the front bumper into the headlight housing to maintain design consistency of the KIA model line-up. It also has newly added quad-LED fog lamps for a more high-tech and upscale front view.

Kia Optima K5 Interior

Sleek interior

Also included in the facelift is the drive-mode select that adjusts transmission shift points and steering weight, making it possible to have a customisable driving experience; available only on the sporty Optima SX.

Inside, I’m also curious to see what the air ventilation front seats can do because I really hate getting into the hot driver’s seat or even the passenger seat in the afternoon and wet my back with sweat.

Hydrophobic Glass

Hydrophobic Glass

The Optima K5 also uses hydrophobic glass, a self-cleaning glass with a surface which keeps itself free of dirt and grime giving a clearer vision especially in heavy rain. Have you seen me parking my car? Sweat! The new facelift Kia Optima will have 4 front and 4 rear parking sensors! Darling’s friend Victor’s girlfriend parks as bad as me so my bet is this will be of great use for her! LoL!

For a family with kids like me, the rear view camera will come handy especially when we are about to reverse the car. The more we talked about this, the more excited Vic and Darling were.

More safety features includes 6 airbags, rear view camera, power windows with safety auto pinching, and auto wiper with rain sensor.

More of Optima K5’s unique selling proposition:

  • New design LED package (Headlamps, front fog lamps, rear combination lamps)
  • Air ventilated seats (both front side)
  • Drive mode select
  • Electronic parking brake
  • 4 front and 4 rear parking sensors
  • 4.3″ TFT LCD touch screen + rear view camera + Infinity sound system
  • 8-way power driver seat with memory seat and 4-way power passenger seat
  • 4 auto powered and up/down windows with safety auto pinching
  • Auto wiper with rain sensor
  • Hydrophobic glass
  • D-Shaped Steering Wheel

At just RM149,888, this face lift will definitely continue to be KIA’s standard bearer for style.

Nice review. I got a feeling that someone has been sold. So, can I expect to be driven around in a brand new black one when I come back for CNY? ;)
