Horrible, horrible night…
I got irritated (I’m grumpy when sleepy), carried him and placed him outside the bedroom and shut the door (leaving a little gap so I can still see him). He started crying. I opened the door and tried to talk him into joining us (even offering him to sleep on our bed). Still he refused and insisted to sleep downstairs.
That got me boiling so I carried him down, placed him on the mattress and left. I went up again leaving him in total darkness alone downstairs (while I hid and wait at the staircase). He was quiet for some time, before he finally called out for his Daddy! We let him call for sometime until our hearts could take it no more. Darling went down to talk to him and he finally agreed to join us upstairs to sleep.
All that commotion took a good 2 hours and by the time we got to sleep it was already past 3am! Ethan got up at 8am the next morning and I am “Zombified” to the max today!
Recalling back what had happened, I thought maybe Ethan was having a nightmare and maybe he was not even aware of what occurred last night. Boy, was I wrong! Watch this video to see what his answers are to my questions!
Ethan : Why.. Because Ethan go outside.
Me : Who put Ethan outside alone?
Ethan : Mummy.
Me : Then what Ethan do? What Ethan do?
Ethan : Ethan go downstairs.
Me : Then?
Ethan : Because Ethan notti!
Me : Then Ethan call who?
Ethan : Daddy.
Me : How Ethan call Daddy?
Ethan : Daddy Ethan kenot!!!! (Indicating he can’t bear to be left alone there!)

When we just moved in to this house about 10 months ago, Gwen kept waking up in the middle of the night around 3- 4am almost every night. She wanted to go downstairs and watch TV..gosh.I did the same thing like what you did..but she still wake up. One night I cannot tahan already..I locked her outside the room for good few mins..she was crying and banging on the door. Ever since that night, she never wakes up in the middle of the night anymore.

LOL…your kid so cute, and my first time here.

Poor boy..it is not advisable to leave small kid in darkness,….it will lead them to have nightmare during their sleep.
[Reply]
Aww….that's horrible. When we are sleepy and the kid does not want to sleep! When YX wants to play during bedtime, we will normally chase him outside and lock the door. After some crying, he will come in and sleep obediently. hehehe…

HEhehe… Reese did a few of these too….
But Ethan is soo cute… his speech still not very clear… but very very cute…

children hv nightmares too..

Ethan's replies were so cute in the clip. Could see his sheepish look when he admitted he was naughty. I guess that's the challenge we have with the terrible twos/threes. It's quite a paradoxical relationship for us. We love them to bits, however when they act up, these are the times that we don't like them very much

These things happen to kids. I remember my own experience (Dunno why…but I do remember some of the things that happened when I was a kid)…when I had a nightmare and went crying to my parents' bed…and they just let me get into their bed and sleep in between them that night. All was ok after that.

hmmm… guess this will happen once awhile kua, if me i sure whack de, maybe sleep too much during the day? so at nite very hyper?

It happen to ziyi last time occasionally which drove me real mad most of the time. I think that bedtime ritual could help children sleep better like reading books.Don't worry, it will stop happening real soon… my ziyi is now 3y4m
