Hotel Equatorial Melaka

etc coffee corner

I was back in Melaka recently for work purposes in town.  As Darling and the boys tagged along, I chose to stay at Hotel Equatorial Melaka as it is situated directly opposite Dataran Pahlawan and is only 500m from Jonker’s Street. At least they can go shopping or sight-seeing while I am at work. Dataran Pahlawan is just across the road from Hotel Equatorial Melaka. Can you see the cheerful and brightly lit trishaws? There […]

Ole Ole Delights Melaka

We went back to Malacca last weekend and brought my parents out for dinner at this newly refurbished place called Ole Ole Delights. It was formerly Ole Ole that served traditional Malay food with dark, wooden interior but now they are sporting a more modern cafe-like ambiance and serve a mix of Western, Malay and Thai cuisine. Ole Ole Delights (Next to Public Bank Batu Berendam) 7 Jalan Mutiara 4, Taman Mutiara Melaka, Batu Berendam […]

A fruitful weekend

Malacca baby boom

We were back in my hometown last weekend and it was indeed a fruitful one as we got to meet many of my relatives. My mom’s place is special as most of her siblings live nearby. By nearby I meant they live right behind or next to her. The entire neighbourhood is made up of her siblings except those that sold off their house.  The first relative we met was my mom’s brother’s daughter’s children. […]

Submarine Museum, Malacca

Submarine Museum Malacca_23

One fine day, I saw pictures of my cousin’s hubby and son visiting a submarine. Well, I’ve seen them visiting helicopters, ships and all and kept thinking how nice if Ethan gets to see all those for real and then I saw the SUBMARINE and totally lose it.  You can imagine my excitement! I’ve never seen a real submarine in my life! It’s only fair that this Submerryn gets to see and touch a real […]

Casa del Rio Melaka

We were lucky to be invited to Casa del Rio Melaka Open House last Saturday. Darling, Ethan and I woke up really early in the morning and began our journey down south. We took the North-South Highway and exited at Ayer Keroh Toll Plaza. Drove another 15 minutes or so and here we are at the Quay Side overlooking Casa del Rio! :D Located on Jalan Kota Laksamana, the hotel is a literal two minute […]

Malacca River Cruise

We were in Malacca last weekend and this time I did not just stay home. I ‘toured’ the city :D We met up with Carol and Eric and started planning what to do. I tell you, being a Malaccan, I’m the BEST person to get opinion of where to go, what to do and eat in Malacca! My answer is always an almost immediate, “DUNNO” LoL! What can I say? I seldom go out jalan-jalan […]

Fried Ice-Cream anyone?

My nieces have been raving endlessly about the fried ice-cream from Jonker Walk. But not anymore for I, da Submerryn have finally conquered Jonker Walk a week ago where I also found something long and springy and fell in love with it! Read about the amazing long stuff here :D I went to Jonker […]

Springy potato (Tornado potato)

Last weekend, I finally did something I should have done ages ago – walk in Jonker Walk! :P  Being a Malaccan it can be quite embarrassing when everyone else is talking about it while you have NO idea whatsoever about it! Finally on Saturday evening, we step foot in Jonker Walk.. Woo hoo! Jonker Walk baby! Look at the crowd! I found something LONG and SPRINGY and immediately I fell in love with it! :P […]

At 8.30pm sharp, Philea turned off all non-essential lights and we dined in ‘darkness’. Romantic to the max! :D Buffet spread illuminated by candle lights They even organised an interesting activity to fill up the entire one hour. […]
