The Golden Prosperity Yee Sang and CNY Feast @ Dorsett Grand Subang
We will be welcoming the auspicious year of Fire Monkey in 2016 but it is never too early to Lou Sang!
Chef Loh Jiunn Voon, Executive Chinese Chef from award winning Chinese restaurant, The Emperor prepared three delectable 8-course feast and Yee Sang to indulge in with our loved ones, friends and colleagues.
We always do our best to arrive early for Chinese dinners because I super love the nuts they served as appetiser. There is something about them that drives me nuts! :P
I also love a warm cup of tea to go with my meals and the one I had here is very robust and fragrant. I’m not a tea expert though so I don’t really know what tea they actually served us. I’ve always wanted to ask but never got about to do that as I got busy attending Ayden and all.
Toss to Prosperity Yee Sang is available from 8 January to 22 February 2016 for lunch and dinner.
The prices of yee sang start from RM58.00 nett. This Chinese New Year, with every purchase of Yee Sang, guests can indulge in selected dishes for RM8.00 nett only.
Only available at Dorsett Grand Subang, The Golden Prosperity Yee Sang consists of fresh salmon, silver bait fish, mango and more to create this golden combination. Look at those lustrous strips of mangoes!
Topped with fresh salmon and silver bait fish with lots and lots of crunchy crackers!
And… it’s time to toss to prosperity!
As we ‘lou sang’, this golden creation lit up, revealing the treasures which lies beneath. Colourful jewels started to emerge from beneath…
Revealing a beautiful mess.
The golden shredded mango shines it way through giving this yee sang a delightful and refreshing flavor.
We also had the privilege to preview the Abundance & Wealth Set Menu that evening.
Double-Boiled Cordyceps Flower with Dried Scallops, Village Chicken Soup and Bamboo Pith
A fragrant herb aroma filled the air before this soup was served before us. I knew right away that I’ll like what we are having. Kampung chicken double-boiled with cordyceps flower, dried scallops, bamboo pith and a few other ingredients producing liquid gold that is simply rejuvenating.
The next dish is a Combination of Crispy Roasted Chicken and Duck accompanied with Marinated Jelly Fish.
How do you tell a great roasted chicken from a merely decent one? The skin. Not only is the meat tender and juicy, the skin is also crispy and crunchy. I can’t have enough of this.
The duck is also roasted perfectly. The boys enjoyed the crackers a lot.
Ayden said GOOD means VERY GOOD okay? :D
The jellyfish however is a little too briny for my tastebud. I prefer it to be less salty like the ones I had in their yee sang. That was superbly good.
Steamed Grouper “Hong Kong” Style
It’s delicate, fresh and flavorful flesh is really best for this dish. The premium sauce tempted me to request for a bowl of steamed white rice to go with it.
Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns with Curry Leaf and Lemon Grass
I can’t contain my happiness when huge tiger prawns were presented before us. What I found endearing about this dish is the little dried shrimps scattered all over the tiger prawns. Big prawns, small prawns.. we ate it all that evening.
Braised Fish Maw with Dried Oyster and Black Mushroom
A must-have dish for CNY to symbolise prosperity, the important ingredients are:
Oyster: receptivity to good fortune, good business, good luck
Mushroom: Longevity
Black moss: Wealth
Fish: Increase in prosperity
Steamed Lotus Leaf Rice with Diced Chicken and Yam
Big ball of rice wrapped in lotus leaf and steamed imparting a delightful almost tea-like flavor to the rice.
Double-Boiled Fuji Apples with Snow Fungus and Honey Dates
A refreshing and soothing treat to end our hearty meal.
Deep-fried Chinese New Year Cake with Mochi Green Tea Paste
Chinese like to keep nian gao at home during the lunar new year celebrations for auspiciousness. With every CNY meal, it is a must to have Nian Gao dessert.
These sticky rice cake fritters hit the right scale that evening, sending us home on a happy note :)

Wow! You’ve had your yee sang already. :)
Nice, the fish maw dish looks good, I like anything braised like that.
