Singapore River Cruise
When we visited Merlion Park, Ethan requested to ride on the River Cruise but we were in a rush to somewhere else that we had to decline his request. However in the evening, with slightly over 2 hours to go before boarding our flight, we made a quick dash for the Singapore River Cruise. Unfortunately for us, when we arrived Merlion Park we were told that there will be no boat available until at least half an hour later. The cruise itself will take another half an hour and after calculating the time, we fear that we will not be able to make it to the airport on time.
Seeing the disappointed look on Ethan, the Cruise operator immediately called for a boat to take us for the cruise that instant!
Singapore River Experience ticket- S$15 for adult S$8 for children
The boat
We got the boat ALL TO OURSELVES :D
Only us :D
The Merlion. Taken from the boat
Some kids jumping into the river! Hehe.. :P
The view along the river bank
HIPPO Dinner Cruise. Board this cruise and they’ll send you to Singapore Zoo to feed you to the Hippos! Nom Nom… :P
Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay – hotspot for Singapore nightlife
The colourful kaleidoscope of restaurants, wine bars, entertainment spots and retail shops
Riverside Point
Extreme Swing – feel the sensation of a short free fall and then a rush of adrenalin as you fly out over the Singapore river. Then swing backward and forward several times over the Clarke Quay flight path before returning safely to the launch position.
We even got the opportunity to catch a couple of dudes on the Extreme Swing! Definitely NOT for the faint hearted!
I managed to record them on video too.. Let’s watch!
It’s bungee jump – reversed!
When Ethan saw other boats passed us by, he wondered why those boat are packed with people while ours is empty (except us)?
Just look at how sardine packed other boats are! I guess they must be wondering why ours is close to empty too! :D
The cruise passes by many grand old bridges of diverse designs decorated with quaint old lamps of a bygone era but these two bridges are worth mentioning:
Cavenagh Bridge – is the only suspension bridge and one of the oldest bridges in Singapore, spanning the lower reaches of the Singapore River in the Downtown Core. Opened in 1870 to commemorate Singapore’s new Crown colony of the Straits Settlements status in 1867, it is the oldest bridge in Singapore that exists in its original form.
Cavenagh Bridge
Esplanade Bridge – is a 260 metre-long (850 ft.) road bridge that spans across the mouth of the Singapore River in Singapore with the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay on its northern abutment and the Merlion on the southern. The 70 metre-wide (230 ft.) low-level concrete arched bridge has seven spans and supports two four-lane carriageways and walkways along both sides.
Esplanade Bridge. Can you see the Esplanade Theatre peeking at the back?
Ethan had great fun during the cruise, this being his first time on a boat.
As soon as we got back to Merlion Park, the Cruise operator rushed us back to our hotel fearing that we might miss our flight! Not bad! He made sure Ethan got his boat ride as he knew we won’t be able to come back to Singapore, well, at least not so soon!
In case you missed it, here’s a list of where we went in Singapore
1 ) Merlion Park
2 ) Marina Food Loft
4 ) Imbiah Lookout
If u go to SG clarke quay next time, DO NOT GO this restaurant "Epicurious". The food is not worth the money and the service is bad. They like only whites lol.
I want to explore that thing suspended on top of those three buildings in the first pic. Looked like a stationery train.
The cruise operator was really nice. I wish I could tumpang the boat..haha. Beautiful views.
looks like this is a good option for those who wanted to know SG more.. hmmm, but i don't think i will spend S$15 for that~~ :p
wow..beautiful series of pictures!
very nice crispy clear pixs!!! you use a DSLR?
Wah… that consider a private boat ride for you all! Lucky Ethan!^-^
Beautiful…at night lagi shiok!
S$15? Does it include food? I think the Sarawak River cruise in Kuching does include lunch or dinner…but dunno the price. All I know is that the one here in Sibu going upriver is VERY expensive – several RMK, mind you!!!
whoaa so nice! I love river cruise! but so far only went for once at here. dat one oso for proboscis monkeys n fireflies!
I can see from the pics..Ethan looks so happy.
quite a nice place for a holiday..might consider to go soon :)
very nice scenery.
Chris – I'm not using a DSLR, just a LUMIX :DSTP – Nope, no food, unless you take the Hippo Dinner cruise.. You'll be fed to the hippos :P
Kids like this cruise, don't they?
