Chop Tiang Bee Cafe at Jonker Street, Melaka
We were back in Melaka a couple of weeks ago.
2019 is Visit Melaka Year hence we decided to have a head start and be tourists in my own beautiful hometown. We brought my parents for an evening ride on the Melaka River Cruise. We also brought the boys to view Melaka from a bird’s eye view from Menara Taming Sari. Last but not least, you’ll need to catch Encore Melaka at least once when you are in Melaka which we did on our final evening there.
During our 3D/2N in Melaka, we stayed at Hotel Equatorial; strategically located in the heart of the city. From this hotel, we are able to walk to the Melaka River Cruise, Menara Taming Sari as well as the famous Melaka Jonker Street.
We went for a walk in Jonker Street and an interesting new cafe serving fusion Nyonya delights caught our eyes.
Chop Tiang Bee Cafe
15 Jalan Hang Kasturi
75200 Melaka
A beautiful garden with soothing water features welcomed us.
Just like me, my boys love fishes. We can look at them for hours without getting bored. We can also eat them everyday without getting sick of it. Haha.
This cafe is very generous with space. They do not cramp tables and chairs in a small area. Instead, they have many themed corners that will make very beautiful pictures for gathering with family and friends.
Love the wall art on the pre war architecture.
Modern
Or old-school, there will be something that will suit your liking.
Larger area suitable for gatherings.
You can also just chill here for coffee and their signature home-baked cakes.
Raw yet beautiful wall feature.
The food here is as good as it looks.
Totally recommended is their Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah (RM18.90)
Only in Melaka you can get kangkung goreng with your nasi lemak.
Another winner dish at this cafe is their Laksa (RM16.90)
Flavourful and thick gravy with a choice of yellow noodles or rice vermicelli served with a couple of sizeable prawns, fish cake, fish balls and shredded egg.
Sambal Petai and Squid Sambal Petai Rice Bowl (RM24.90) served with sambal okra is alright though I prefer their Nasi Lemak for the richness of their fragrant coconut rice. I’ll take this IF their nasi lemak is not available for the day.
The boys have always loved Ayam Pongteh and the one they had here did not disappoint.
We totally recommend their Oreo Cheese Cake bites for dessert. We loved it so much that we bought extra to eat in the hotel the next day.
We read that their Dad’s Carrot Cake is also a best-seller here. We shared a slice and though it was nice, we still prefer their Oreo Cheese Cake bites. Ethan was a big fan of the carrot cake though which surprises me as he is not a big fan of carrots!
The boys impatiently waiting to dig in.
Oh yeah, they do serve BIG BREAKFAST too if you are an early bird in Jonker.
I was here with my boys and BFF, Dato Chris.
We stayed till late until it was almost closing time. That was how much fun we had catching up over good food in such a cosy cafe.
Another cosy hangout corner.
Ayden heading back into the cafe eventhough it is time to leave. He loves it here.
Good food and cosy ambiance. Price wise is almost the same as every other cafes in Jonker. We’ll be back, ok Ayden?

Wait…this is a cafe? Bahahaha I am so ignorant. I have never paid close attention to it. :p
Nice to go back to hometown for a holiday, being tourists in own home.
I must visit Jonker street if I go to Melacca.
OMG!!! I so love the place, so very beautiful. So nice to have a house like that! The food, of course, is my kind of cuisine, nyonya. That one Dato kah? So very handsome one!!! Single and available or not? :D
I need to get back down to Melaka. Seems lots of changes since our last visit.
Food looks really delicious, especially the petai sotong!
Your BFF looks so much older than you, hehe :P
Enthronement is good with very photogenic setting, mark it down and hopefully can pay it a visit on my next trip :)
