City folks, kampung life @ Pulai Desaru Beach Resort

Howdy peeps! How you been doing? We’re finally back after a 3 day hiatus. We went down south to Pulai Desaru for some much needed back to nature retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I did not bring my laptop along with me as I have this one rule of NOT bringing work along on our vacation. But guess what? I max my iPhone usage during the entire trip that I […]

How to peel a kiwi?

Gold or rather yellow kiwi fruit is the craze these days. Nevermind how expensive they are, we are consuming them like mad just because they are said to be higher in nutrients. The fact that they are sweeter and bald makes it more appealing to me lah actually.  How do you peel a kiwi fruit anyway? I don’t like to use the peeler as I’ll end up wasting a thick chunk of skin and flesh […]

Ramadhan Review : One World Hotel

Throughout the holy month of Ramadhan, Cinnamon Coffee House renowned for its wide array of glorious traditional Malay specialities, is putting together a melting pot of local and international dishes which have carved a place in our hearts as perennial favourites. Aptly themed Warisan Bonda, we embarked on a culinary journey savouring mom’s home-cooked recipes. At the carving stall, we indulged in Roast New Zealand Whole Lamb Malay style with special sauces. A wide range […]

What to do with mayonnaise?

I got this bottle of Japanese mayonnaise from Ethan’s class educational trip recently. I have no idea what to do with it until yesterday when I discovered that it is going to expire this December when I stripped it! :P Oh dear, better use it fast before it expires! Japanese Kewpie sudah bogel :D What we did was to blanch some carrot sticks and cut some japanese cucumbers. I used normal carrot as I doubt […]

Let’s Be Healthy

Most of you know that I was a kindergarten teacher before I got Ethan right? Ok, in case you don’t, NOW you know :D I quit after delivering him to become a full-time stay at home mom. It was not part of my plan but.. nevermind :) Back when I was teaching, I always tell the parents to make sure their kids HAVE breakfast before coming to school as the nutrients taken will help them […]

Ramadhan buffet : The Saujana Hotel

The Saujana Hotel is just a stone’s throw away from my house. Okay, maybe we’ll need a little bit more than just a stone, perhaps 20 stones will do :D During the Ramadhan month last year, we were invited to dine at this prestigious hotel. We enjoyed our meal by the poolside very much. The food, ambiance, traditional performances and live stations serving varieties of local delicacies made us feel warm all over. Read more […]

Marché The Curve

Darling’s birthday is this weekend but guess what? I’ll be attending Nuffnang’s Blogopolis 2012 and that itself will take me away from 8am – 6pm followed by a date with Justin Bieber (MTV World Stage) later that night in Sunway :P So to make up for my ‘absence’ during his birthday, I took him out for an early birthday celebration last night. We went to Marché at the Curve. It’s our first time here mind you […]

Genting Chin Swee Temple Vegetarian Restaurant

A couple of weeks ago, we went up to Chin Swee Temple in Genting Highland, Pahang. It’s so beautiful here as we have cool breeze day in, day out! We fell in love with the breathtaking view of Chin Swee Temple. We super love the cool weather too! Okay, the thing is, before going for this excursion, we were worried that all we’ll be having is bread and water. Can’t blame me as Chin Swee […]

Glycemic Index: Measure of changes to the sugar level in the bloodstream of a child

*48 hours sticky post. Scroll down for latest updates* The other day in Ethan’s paed office, I read in the HealthToday magazine regarding GL. It was an eye-opener article. There has been a lot of stuff in the media and online about added sugars in growing up milk powder and the health impact resulting from consuming too much added sugars. Do you know sugar can reduce the learning capacity and adversely affect school children’s grades? […]

Sakae Sushi @ Paradigm Mall

Paradigm Mall. Have you heard of Paradigm Mall? By now lots have been said about that mall. We visited that mall two days after their official opening and sad to say that it was extremely dusty.  The floor was slippery and I almost slip a couple of times. It was not easy navigating through the awkwardly designed mall with bottleneck human traffic at certain areas of the mall. That was my first visit to the […]

Sugar toast

Every once in a while, I let Ethan indulge in something not so healthy :P His favourite ‘unhealthy’ food is of course, sugar toast. It’s so easy to prepare. Just spread butter on a piece of sandwich bread. Toast it on my favourite Tefal pan. Turn it around. Once golden, sprinkle some sugar and you are done :D Ethan loves it so much, it’s finger licking GOOD! :D

Homemade Soya bean milk

It’s pretty hot these days. Took a shower and got all sweaty again soon after. I’ve not boiled soy milk for some time now and today seems like the perfect day to have some! I soaked a bowl of soy bean in the morning and by the time Ethan is back from school they are all nice and fluffy. I let Ethan peel the skin off those beans as he enjoys playing with them. I […]

Expecting Mums : Are you absorbing enough nutrients?

Double lines on the pregnancy test kit means positive. Congratulations, you are pregnant. I remembered seeing those double lines for the very first time when I conceived Ethan. Darling was still asleep. I got super excited yet I did not want to wake him. I left the test kit on the bathroom sink and went to work. At work an hour later, I got a call from Darling asking if it was true. We both […]

The bitter bitter gourd soup

The weather has been hot like crazy these days so I thought of boiling my favourite bitter gourd soup over the weekend to cool us down. I’ve never boiled this before I tell you though I’ve had it outside countless times. How hard can it be? It’s just like boiling any other soup but instead of using old cucumber or anything else, we use bitter gourd. No? –  pork ribs –  bitter gourd 苦瓜 (rub […]

Awana Kijal, Golf, Beach and Spa Resort

The last we stepped foot in Terengganu was last year when we flew to Kuala Terengganu to go to Pulau Redang. We did not do much there then as we spent most of our time in Redang. A couple of weeks ago, we went to Terengganu again. This time, we stayed in the 5 star Awana Kijal, Golf, Beach and Spa Resort. Approximately 5 hour drive from KL, it wasn’t that bad as we stopped […]

Today, Darling and I accompanied Ethan to his school’s educational trip – bento making. When Ethan initially brought home the permission slip, he told us that ONE adult must accompany him. I volunteered to go but Darling said it would be nice to make it a family outing as well so we paid for 2 adults and 1 kid :) Ethan was given a bento set, a pair of gloves, a hair net and a […]

Shogun’s Teppan Gelato

Taking gelato experience to a whole new level, Shogun introduces the Teppan Gelato, a premium Japanese dessert for the first time in Malaysia. Teppan Gelato is an ice cream like dessert made on Teppan or metal pan. Whooops! NO, that is not Teppan Gelato. That is the 100kg Maguro (Tuna Fish) specially flown in to kick off Shogun Fest last Thursday. Shogun is having its Shogun fest in conjunction with the Sakura spring season from […]

Lemang Kijal

What is lemang? Lemang is a traditional malay food that is made of glutinous rice and cooked in hallowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo. Lemang is usually eaten with rendang or serunding. Usually prepared for festivities such as the Muslim Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, we found lemang in abundance EVERYDAY here in Terengganu during our trip to Awana Kijal, Golf, Beach & […]
