Staycation in Singapore
Travel makes us happy but when was the last time you traveled? Seems like ages ago right? All our travel plans back in 2020 were put on hold. The first quarter of 2021 does not look too promising either but I really hope the situation will improve tremendously by the time we hit the second half of this year.
Traveling helps us experience life in different ways. There is only so much the internet can tell us. Nothing beats experiencing it firsthand.
Keeping my hopes high, I dare not dream big by making an advance holiday reservation that requires flying because I do not wish to be in an enclosed cabin for a period of time during this pandemic. What I do dare to do is make a plan for a staycation nearby which is accessible by car.
I would so love to take a road trip over the causeway with the boys and have a staycation Singapore. I am sure my car would love it too as it has been sitting idle since the start of the pandemic.
I already have my eyes set on Capella Singapore as it is situated in Sentosa because my main purpose of going to Singapore is to bring the boys to Universal Studios Singapore. We’ve already stayed in Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa previously so it would be nice to experience the hospitality of another hotel this time around.
Isn’t it ironic when I read about my friends in Singapore longing to travel to Malaysia for the many places of interests here while here I am longing to go across to Singapore? I guess grass IS always greener on the other side, eh? Haha.
Whatever it is, we all need a break from reality every once in a while especially now that we have been in ‘hiding’ for so long. The boys and I have been cooped in at home for don’t know how long that we don’t even remember what the outside world looks like anymore. Singapore seems like a safe place to relax and unwind hence the moment they open up the borders, we will definitely drive over with our luggage bags in tow.
Having said all of the above, we still need to travel responsibly during this pandemic:
- If you are eligible, get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and wait for 2 weeks after getting your second vaccine dose before traveling as it takes time for your body to build protection after any vaccination.
- Check travel restrictions before making any plans.
- Always wear a mask in public.
- Practice social distancing and avoid crowded places.
- Frequently wash your hands and bring along sanitizer.
- Avoid contact with anyone who is sick and refrain from traveling if you are feeling unwell.
- Upon returning from travel, if there are people in the household who did not travel with you, wear a mask in shared spaces inside your home for 14 days after travel.
We can’t hide forever but with precaution and care, we can travel responsibly and experience life beyond the four walls of our home.
