Browse the Internet Safely with Audra HomeShield
The internet is a wonderful thing and in our present world, it is almost impossible to live without it.
In my household, we use it to communicate with others via the many social platforms out there. The Daddy uses the internet to work from home; enabling him to spend precious time with us. Big brother Ethan uses it to research school projects and assignments and to communicate with friends. Both Ethan and Ayden use the internet to play interactive games.
However, the digital world also comes with huge risks, such as inappropriate content and online predators. The recent #MomoChallenge fiasco, be it a hoax or otherwise, has spooked many parents out there. Panic driven, parents were caught off guard on how to handle this scary situation. There is a silver lining to this hoax though. Parents suddenly become more aware of their kids’ activities online, what they watch and hear on the Internet and who they meet.
There is a sudden surge of certain keywords such as internet safety, digital guard tools, online protection tools and many more on the search engine to protect children at home by anxious parents.
This is where Audra comes in handy.
Let me introduce Audra.
Audra is a device ecosystem that helps to control and secure our home internet by setting our own rules.
The Audra device gives me the ability to limit and control the boys’ internet usage.
Setting up the Audra unit is a piece of cake. It comes with an easy to understand quick start guide that even the noob homemaker me can do it.
- Plug in the Audra unit
- Activate the subscription
- Download the Audra app
- Set the control for every devices
I saved the Audra app under my Health folder as it is a major part of our wellness; digital wellness that is.
We may not know it but most of us are digitally unwell. We spend so much time online that we forego important matters such as sleep and spending quality time with the family. I think I am not wrong when I say many of us are addicted to the internet, myself included.
With Audra, I can set the limit of internet usage at home. Not only I can limit the usage, I can actually personalised the setting to suit each individuals with different online needs at home.
For example, I use the internet more than Ethan so I can set the hours of internet usage for myself to be a couple or more hours than Ethan. I only allow 2 hours of daily internet usage for Ethan. The two hours can be used at one go or be broken into several sessions but as long as he has hit a total of 2 hours, Audra will automatically cut off his internet connection. Audra’s time quota based blocking ensures a healthy level of screen time hence reducing internet addiction amongst children.
I can also assign both Ethan and Ayden’s devices under the same ‘Children’ category so that I do not need to do a double job to customize the control limit as they can both be protected under the same settings.
The boys are aware I am limiting their internet usage via Audra and it is actually a good thing. It instill a sense of discipline knowing that their connection has a time limit to it and their usage are bounded by my rules.
I can also rest assure that they are browsing safely as I’ve blocked disturbing categories from their devices such as gambling, hacking, adware, malware, drugs and alcohol, weapons and pornography.
Ads are very dangerous when children are browsing as it leads to a totally new page and from there it will lead to another and before you know it, your child is already in some disturbing web pages.
Look at these two phones below:
The black phone is connected to the internet without Audra protection while the white phone is connected to Audra. We did speed test on both of them but look what popped out on the black phone – lots and lots of ads while the white phone is all clean without adware.
Audra will block unwanted sites should our children try to browse them therefore giving me a peace of mind and confidence to let them go online.
Subscribe to Audra from as low as RM35/month
