D’Laksa – Famous Penang Assam Laksa in 1 Utama
You know 1 Utama is my second home right? I’m here like practically every weekend. For the past months, I have been sniffing delicious laksa aroma each time I do my grocery shopping at AEON. Two weeks ago I finally decided to let my nose lead me to the source of the aromatic laksa broth. I was floating with my eyes closed and my nose as the GPS and when I opened my eyes I was here at D’Laksa; opposite AEON supermarket.
Look at that queue. It must be quite good to have people queuing like that right?
Craving punya pasal I also decided to join the queue. Up to this point, I am still clueless of what the hype is all about but because I have extra time that day, I queued. I don’t usually queue for food wei, so this better be good!
The laksa noodles and condiments are pre-prepared in bowls.
The piping hot laksa broth is then poured into the takeaway bowl upon order. You can’t request to omit bawang, sayur or anything. Everything is standardize that’s why the queue is moving so quickly.
So many huge pots filled with thick fragrant laksa broth.
Fishballs! Many people queuing before me ordered the assam fishballs but because I only wanted to try the Assam Laksa, I did not order this.
The prawn paste is optional though. You can request for it not to be included but are you crazy? This is a MUST for me when eating laksa.
RM6nett for this bowl of Assam Laksa. Got real fish!
I did not have much expectation over it because it is a takeaway food but boy, am I wrong. This is so good! It tastes very similar to the assam laksa I had in Penang with the combination of sweet, savory, sourish and spicy laksa broth. I know it is Penang Assam Laksa because of the sweet undertone. I would not mind if they reduce the sweetness and increase the sour tones though as I don’t really fancy sweet stuffs. The broth is thick and very flavorful.
The toppings consists of fresh vegetables and pineapples unlike the one I had in a famous franchised kopitiam where they used canned pineapples >_<
The boys ate sushi while I had my laksa fix as they said it is too spicy for them
I hope they maintain the quality and taste of their laksa because I spoke to an AEON staff regarding the laksa here and she mentioned that it was way better when they newly opened. Don’t deteriorate please because it is now my current favourite assam laksa in the mall that I always dabao home one bowl everytime I am here.
Walau eh! One Utama is your second home and it is just walking distance from my home. This weekend I must look for your cute boys and cubit the youngest’s face. I also smelled the laksa many times and saw people tapao so much. Thanks for telling me this! My wife and I love good Assam Laksa.
You found a treasure there! Bet you would be queueing up more for the assam laksa when you have your next craving.
Looks good. Not really a fan, I prefer Sarawak laksa, but will eat sometimes for a change. My girl loves it.
Aeon midvalley has this stall so hopefully it is as good so I will try it there.
I go 1U everytime I travel down South, but did not get to meet you, haha!
The laksa looks really good!
RM6 for that bowl of asam laksa definitely worthy , look at the fish piece in whole, I like it hat way rather than all mashed in the soup.
