Cat & the Fiddle – The Online Cheesecake Specialist
Cat & The Fiddle voted as Singapore’s best cheesecake by TimeOut Singapore is now available in Malaysia!
Cat & The Fiddle is the first online specialist cheesecake store in Singapore. It offers premium cheesecakes in 15 original flavours (in Singapore). Their cheesecakes are specially created by Singapore’s iconic dessert chef, Daniel Tay.
Chef Daniel Tay is one of the most well-known names in luxury desserts in Singapore and is trained in the art of classical French pastry and dessert making. Chef Daniel Tay has worked with the legendary gourmet food retailer Fauchon of Paris. In Singapore, he was the Pastry Chef of the famed gastronomic French restaurant, Les Amis. Chef Tay’s skill and artistry has garnered him a gallery of awards including:
a. Finalist at World Gourmet Summit (2002 – 2006)
b. Pastry Chef of the Year (2001)
c. World Pastry Cup Gold Medal (1996)
Cat & The Fiddle is now available in Malaysia. To cater to Malaysian market, their cheesecakes are fully Halal-certified by JAKIM.
They launched 4 cheesecakes flavours on the 1st July 2016 in conjunction with the launch of their Malaysia online store www.catandthefiddle.com.my on the same date.
We sampled 6 cheesecake flavours including 2 of their new flavours – Chocolate Cheesecake and Durian Cheesecake.
The first cheesecake we tried is the New York Cheesecake.
Over the Moon (New York Cheesecake)
Fully-Baked New York cheesecake: Rich with smooth cream cheese and enriched with vanilla beans with delicious golden crust underneath and at the side wall. Top design is made from chocolate powder.
Main ingredients: Cream cheese, chocolate, eggs and cream
Size and Weight: Approximately 7 inch and 1.1kg

First look at this New York Cheesecake reminds me so much of Pokémon Egg! Tell me if you agree with me or am I the only one who is too engrossed playing Pokémon Go?
This New York Cheesecake is creamy, smooth, rich and dense. A slice of it is good for sharing as the texture is thick and ultra-rich and can be very filling.
Queen of Hearts (Strawberry Cheesecake)
Fully-Baked Strawberry cheesecake: Rich cheese with delicious golden crust underneath and at the side wall, top is a thick layer of strawberry and raspberry puree

I am surprised Ethan loves this Strawberry cheesecake the most as he doesn’t usually fancy eating strawberries. A thick, creamy but not overly sweet cheesecake, it is also my favourite from the BAKED CHEESECAKE selections.
The Modern Duke’s Pudding (Oreo Cheesecake)
Fully-Baked Oreo cheesecake: The smoothness of rich cheese with the combination of Oreo cookies and the crunchiness of Oreo cookie crumble underneath. Top is a thick layer of Oreo cookies crumble

I believe one of the most popular types of cheesecakes has always been the Oreo Cheesecake. Who can resist a yummy cheesecake made of delicious chocolate cookie mixed with their creamy middle. It is a fail-proof cake for any occasion but having said that, if you are looking for something more unique, their non-baked Mango Cheesecake is totally recommended.
The Russian Whiskers (Mango Cheesecake)
Non-Baked Mango cheesecake: Rich cream cheese with fresh mango cube and finger biscuit with biscuit crust base and white curl chocolate chip at the side wall. Topped with a thick layer of natural mango puree.
Main ingredients: Fresh mango pieces and mango puree
Size and Weight: Approximately 7 inch and 1.1kg

The mango cheesecake is voted as our favourite as it has a light and soft texture with subtle tropical fruit flavour. It is not overwhelming and is actually very refreshing especially if eaten on hot sunny days. Totally not recommended to share as one slice is just not enough for me.
*NEW* Naughty and Nice (Chocolate Cheesecake)
Non-Baked Chocolate cheesecake: A devilishly sinful chocolate cheesecake layered with rich premium couverture chocolate mousse, topped off with pillows of fluffy sponge.
Main ingredients: Couverture Chocolate and Chocolate Mousse
Size and Weight: Approximately 7 inch and 900g
Price: RM119.00
A devilishly decadent chocolate cheesecake with premium couverture chocolate. This is little Ayden’s favourite. He alone can polish the entire slice in no time.
*NEW* King Cat of the Mountain (Durian Cheesecake)
Non-Baked Mao Shan Wang Durian cheesecake: Creamy Mao Shan Wang cheesecake. Crowned with cubes of soft sponge with its dreamy innards of durian sponge cake and durian-studded cream cheese.
Main ingredients: Real Musang King Durian
Size and Weight: Approximately 7 inch and 900g
Price: RM139.00
Besides the Mango Cheesecake, the Durian Cheesecake is also my favourite in the NON-BAKED cheesecake selection as Chef Daniel managed to incorporate the perfect ratio of durian to cream cheese that results in a light, moist and fluffy cheesecake. It is not too heavy and again, not recommended to share.
Verdict: The BAKED cheesecake selections are for hardcore cheese lovers as the cakes are richer, creamier and packed with cheesy goodness. I personally prefer the NON-BAKED selections though especially the Mango and Durian cheesecakes as they are not too heavy and makes me want to have more with each bite.
