Bazaar Ramadan @ Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur welcomes Ramadan, the Muslim holy month that comes once a year. The Muslims honour Ramadan as a month of patient endurance through fasting and gratitude through prayers. It is a month to strengthen and reinforce faith, compassion and forgiveness and an increased religious observance and self-reflection.
The second thing that comes to mind when it comes to Ramadan besides fasting is buka puasa. Buka puasa is a session where the Muslims break fast after fasting and commonly visit the Bazaar Ramadan which means a street food market where plenty of food stalls that offers a variety of food selections to break their fast.
Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur brings Bazaar Ramadan to their hotel this Ramadhan.
Buka puasa buffet spread themed “Bazaar Ramadan”, there are plenty of food stalls offering mouthwatering food. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Briyani Kambing is just brilliant. A fusion of Indian, Western and Traditional Malay recipe, this is one of the best briyani and lamb I have eaten this year. The lamb is marinated with selected herbs, spices and yogurt giving it a flavourful yet moist and juicy roast.
We all know of Nasi Hujan Panas but here at Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Bazaar Ramadan, they have Roti Jala Hujan Panas!
What is more surprising is that the Roti Jala Hujan Panas is to be eaten with durian paste and not the usual curry that we are accustomed to. It is definitely a fresh twist to the good old roti jala.
It is good to be eaten on its own too according to Ayden
Another dish worth a shout out is the Sambal Udang Serai Bersantan cooked in bamboo tube.
It is surprisingly not spicy so this is the kids’ favourite. Cooking in bamboo tubes is a healthy way of cooking food without losing their flavour and this bamboo prawn is a hit among diners that the chef was kept on his toes topping it up.
A must-have at every Ramadan Bazaar is the delicious lemang, ketupat and ketupat palas with a selection of serunding and rendang.
Ulam and many varieties of kerabu to whet your appetite.
Here are more of the scrumptious spread found in this Bazaar Ramadan:
Sweet Glazed Chicken Wings
Gulai Kepala Jenahak
Gulai Nangka Tulang Rusuk Kambing
Indonesia Pecal or also known as Rujak Pengantin on the streets of Indonesia.
Now let’s talk about their desserts. Their desserts really got me excited.
Firstly, we were introduced to the durian (pic above).
I was thinking, “WOW! They actually brought in durians into the hotel”. Other hotels I have been at, we ate durian in their open area. I was also thinking, they have so much passion that the chef actually placed the durian on a plate and garnish it beautifully.
See? This durian was so nicely presented.
It is a CAKE! Made from the pulp of D24, they really got me there. I was fooled alright
My slice of that precious durian cake
They also have various other choices of desserts made from the King of Fruits. Here are some of them:
Baked Durian Puff Tart and Durian Cheesecake will certainly make a sweet ending to the scrumptious dinner.
Not only do they serve durian delicacies, they also serve fresh Durian fruits by the poolside!
Head on over to the poolside after dinner to enjoy local fruits such as mangosteen, rambutan, longan, ciku, langsat and most importantly DURIAN!
I am eating durian while wishing it would be awesome if I can take a dip in their pool too. The pool looks so inviting
Sipping Leng Chi Kang to cool us down after such heavy dinner.
