Café Aroma Kopitiam

Do you love ‘kopitiam’ fares but can’t stand the scorching hot weather?  Café Aroma Kopitiam at Dorsett Grand Subang brings typical kopitiam delights in the comfort of a 5-star hotel.

Dishes includes traditional kopitiam favourites such as; Nasi Lemak, Loh See Fun, Mee Rebus, Curry Laksa and Hong Kong ‘French Toast’.

I love their dainty tablewares.

Honey Lemon & Barley Lemon (RM6.00 nett)

The barley drink is served without sugar. Sugar syrup is served separately to suit our personal preference. I like it this way as I usually drink barley without sugar and the ones sold outside are usually too sweet for my liking eventhough I always request for less sugar. Here, at least I am assured that we are drinking barley water and not just sugar.

Hong Kong Style French Toast (RM12.00 nett)

Ethan’s favourite is this chicken ham and cheese sandwiched in thick toast, dipped in egg batter and fried until golden. He loved it so much that he requested to have my share too. I took a bite to try and gave the rest to him. Which mother can say no to their child when it comes to food?

Nasi Lemak Bungkus with Squid (RM9.00 nett)

No kopitiam is complete without our local favourite – nasi lemak. Listed as one of 10 most healthy international breakfasts by TIME Magazine, it is now okay to indulge in this healthy treat :D

Look at the fluffy yet grainy rice. I always prefer nasi lemak bungkus to the ones served on plates. I guess it is more fragrant being wrapped in banana leaf.

Glorious squid. The rice is rich and fragrant and the sambal is savoury and sweet.

Ethan ate the entire packet of nasi lemak because the sambal is not spicy. It is perfect for the kids but for a person who loves everything extra spicy, it doesn’t carry enough punch for me.

Claypot Loh Shi Fun (RM15.00 nett)

Darling had this claypot loh shi fun topped with minced meat, mushrooms, fried shallot, spring onion and an egg to share with Ayden. It is Ayden’s first time eating loh shi fun and he actually loves the slippery, soft and chewy texture of this noodle with dark soy sauce seasoning.

Traditional Marinated Chicken Wings (RM19.00 nett)

Deep-fried chicken wings marinated with garlic, lemon grass, onion and seasoning is our favourite that evening.

Ayden can’t wait to get his hands on this aromatic chicken wings.

Crispy on the outside yet soft and moist on the inside.

Dorsett Grand Satay (RM40.00 nett)

Last but not least, we also had chicken and beef skewers served with rice cake, onion, cucumber and spicy peanut sauce that evening.

Café Aroma Kopitiam is a comfy place to lepak with friends or colleagues. It is open for business every Monday to Friday from 12.00 noon to 10.00 pm.

Yeah, this is a perfect place to get away from the heat. Haha! The place looks nice, I love the traditional table setting. It’s quite hard to eat in un-air conditioned places nowadays since it’s so hot I also lose my appetite.

    • //

Exactly right? I’d rather stay home eat roti if the hubby suggests to eat out in a non-airconditioned place these days.

      • //

Yeah, I know, even yesterday when I did my Invisalign and ate before I came back I preferred to pay RM 1 more for my nasi briyani and drinks to sit in the air con area. I would have been sick and lost my appetite if I had sat in the regular area coz it’s so hot nowadays and that was around 6 pm so the heat was still there.

Nice place to enjoy kopitiam-style food in air-con and 5-stars hotel environment. I like that!!

Eyeing Ethan’s chicken wings and satay. I agreed with you on the banana-wrapped nasi lemak. Smell and taste better than those served on plate. Haha.

    • //

Last time I used to wonder, why are those nasi lemak bungkus more satisfying than those served on plates. Then I figured out it has got to be the banana leaf wrapped that gives the rice that extra fragrance and oomph.

  • //

I love those plates!!! I’ve a soft spot for blue and whites. Ummm…ummm…. LOL!!!

    • //

You too? Me too! That is why the moment I saw those plates I went wah…. and kept taking pictures of them.

  • //

definitely more comfortable eating in the aircon places..but need to pay extra for service charge I believe..the choices of food is good.

    • //

It is definitely more comfortable here. By the way, the price stated is nett price :)

  • //

Ayden looks so happy to eat the satay!

    • //

Haha. That is Ethan, the bigger one. LoL.

      • //

Oops, my eyes see Ethan in the photo but dunno why my hand types Ayden, aiya, sorry. Hahahaha.

  • //

Love the ice honey lemon and nasi lemak!

    • //

Yeah, with this crazy weather, the ice honey lemon is heaven sent!

  • //

Come to Taiping and I bring you to eat our famous nasi lemak, the same style like what you shared, but much more cheaper!! :p

    • //

I’ve not been to Taiping in over 20 years! I really must plan a trip there soon :D
