Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi @ Pholio Cafe, Mutiara Damansara

Last Saturday, we met up with Isaac and Ivy at Pholio Cafe, Mutiara Damansara. Relatively new, its nasi lemak kukus is already well-known in the neighbourhood and beyond.

It is obvious this is a sports themed cafe with a mini football field on the floor to the many football jerseys hanging around the cafe.

Football field floor. The bare wall is where they project live games during the football season.

Pholio Cafe, Mutiara Damansara
Address: Jalan PJU 7/16, Mutiara Damansara,
47820 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Phone:+60 3-7731 9088
Hours:  Open daily except for Sundays · 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Being their signature dish, this Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi is a must try if you are in the vicinity of Mutiara Damansara.

Unlike ordinary nasi lemak cooked in gigantic rice cooker, the ones here are soaked in coconut milk for at least two hours before being steamed for another couple of hours. The result is sinfully rich and fluffy rice.

The fragrant and fluffy nasi lemak kukus is nicely done and doesn’t stick to each other. The sweet and spicy sambal with some salty and sour undertones matched perfectly, adding a contrast to the savoury coconut rice.

Priced at RM6.90 only, this is one of the better priced nasi lemak kukus in town.

We also tried some of their western food.

Classic Chicken Bolognese Spaghetti (RM15.90)

Grilled Chicken Chop (RM18.90)

Fish n’ Chips (RM18.90)

Grilled Steak (RM24.90)

Spicy Seafood Aglio Olio (RM18.90)

A peek into their menu and it is obvious that western fares makes up the bulk of their offerings here but nothing beats their awesome possum signature Nasi Lemak Kukus. I’ll definitely return for their Nasi Lemak Kukus.

I would love to try the nasi kukus. Will wait till the LRT or MRT line to that area is completed to go there.

The test of the pudding is in the eating. Have to try, then only will I know how good it is. We have one nasi lemak kukus here, roadside stall – lady from Selangor selling outside her house…not that nice – the lemakness isn’t quite there.

So this one’s a CONfusion place, eh? I am not into those – usually good but not quite there. Better stick to the “specialists”.

I like my nasi lemak with a lot of “lemak”!! LOL

I thought nasi lemak cooked through “kukus” (steam). Any difference with normal nasi lemak rice??

Food looked good. Price reasonable too
