Two Pesos Kota Damansara
There is this modern Taiwanese mini steamboat place called Two Pesos in SS2 that is always packed with a long queue waiting to be seated. Just a couple of months ago, they opened a new branch in Kota Damansara. I am ALWAYS in Kota Damansara so apa lagi, we quickly hopped inside since not many are aware they have this new branch here so the queue is still tolerable. If you are lucky, you can walk straight in.
Two Pesos Kota Damansara
No 32-1, Jalan PJU 5/9,
Dataran Sunway,
Kota Damansara, 47810
Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Too cute.
The outlet here in KD has a higher ceiling with improved ventilation for a more comfortable dining experience.
I like their wipe clean menu. We just need to tick whatever we want and once they’ve taken our order, they’ll wipe it clean for the next customer. This way they don’t need to waste paper. Small little things like this makes me feel good. If only other eateries will follow their example, we can reduce significant number of waste and help preserve the environment.
If you are a first timer here, let me explain the menu and how they work.
First, you choose a pot with the soup of your choice from the many selections available. They have 14 pots at the time of my writing but they are always updating their menu with new items so you’ll just have to go there and look for yourself.
Second, select the meat (ranging from pork, beef and fish). You can choose ONE.
Third, select rice, yee mee or mee hoon. You can choose ONE.
Each pot is ideal for ONE person but if you are a big eater and wish to have more, add-ons are available too.
The pots plays an important role here at Two Pesos. Each soup is served in the type of pot that suits them best.  Take for example their Milky Seafood Pot which happens to be Ethan and Ayden’s favourite pot. It is served in a ceramic pot as ceramic pot is able to absorb heat slowly and release the heat unhurriedly to preserve the taste and aroma of the soup.
Todate, we have tried 6 out of their current 14 pots.
1)Â Milky Seafood Pot (RM 16)
Another thing to note for if you are a first timer here is the pot may look like it is without soup but rest assured the soup is in there.
Once the pot is heated, you’ll see soup coming out. The ‘juice’ from the ingredients in the pot will bring out more liquid. Mee hoon is ideal for this pot.Â
As the name suggests, the seafood is immersed in a milky broth. I even spotted a piece of cheese in there. The boys can’t have enough of this milky pot.Â
2)Â Japanese Sukiyaki Pot (RM 15.50)
This is our next favourite. If you love mirin and would love to have it in a hot pot concept, this is perfect for you. Served as shown above, it is heated up without a lid. You’ll be surprised to see the liquid coming out after a while.Â
3)Â Two Pesos Stone Pot (RM 15.00)
I personally love this stone pot.Â
First, we heat up the pot. Next, we seared the slices of pork (or beef) in the hot pot with scallions and garlic before adding the soup base.
The half cooked meat is then removed to let the soup come to a boil.Â
The meat is later added in again after the rest of the ingredients are cooked and ready to be eaten. I love this assemble. The soup and everything in it is just nice and compliments each other very well.Â
4)Â Two Pesos BBQ Pot (RM 19.50)
If you can’t decide to have steamboat or BBQ, then this BBQ pot is the answer.Â
We can have their signature broth while still having seared meat slices.Â
My seared meat slices. Yummeh!
5)Â Italian Tomato Pot (RM 16)
This hearty tomato soup is appetising. It makes you want to have more. I love the cute pot too.Â
6)Â Lemon Seafood Pot (RM16)
Talking about cute pots, this Hello Kitty pot is definitely a winner. Hello Kitty fans will want to have this just because of the pot but personally, this is the least favourite soup of mine out of the 6 that I have eaten. Â
Two Pesos also take pride in their condiments. You can try all their sauces but you may want to try their sacha and bean paste or the sacha, garlic and chili sauce combi, the perfect match sauce.Â
I’m so glad for this new branch in KD so we can beat the queue in SS2 and dine comfortably here now.Â
Oh? I expected Spanish or Filipino…pesos.
Pesos? I thought it is Spanish place. Haha.
Look good. So many pots and ingredients to choose from.
i adore the pots more than the food, haha!
You should try this as you are Steamboat Queen. Hehe.
What the… peso = Philippines money hahaha, but Two Pesos is Taiwanese steamboat!
I like this concept, good leh got so many different soups to choose from. If this one open in Penang I will be a regular customer. (Or maybe not if the queue is insane)
There is a story behind the name Two Pesos. It has something to do with the owner and the wife travelling to the Philippines and keeping the pesos or something like that lah. LoL. You’ve got to google it up. I tau makan jer.. :P
this is something new..not sure whether there is any similar here in KK.
As for Two Pesos, I dont think they have a branch in KK. If you are talking about the concept, I doubt there is at the moment but I don’t know as I’ve never been to KK. Haha.
The pot looks too small for the food items in it. I want to eat my food quick so don’t think I will visit this place because have to wait for the soup to boil.
The soup boils very quickly. In fact, this place is dubbed the ‘steamboat fast food’ as everything is very fast paced.
