Potluck Lunch
It all started from one of my FB postings. My foodie friend commented something and one comment led to another and we ended up planning for a potluck. I volunteered to bring a POT since I don’t cook and suggested for Choi Yen to bring the LUCK. We pulled Xiang into the picture as we know he has a nice house to host us :D
Just an impromptu idea that became a reality but we are all required to cook something. I am not allowed to bring just the pot :( I squeezed my brain dry and finally thought of Coke Chicken. My boys love my coke chicken so I thought why not?
I thought wrong. Cooking for the boys and cooking for a party is two different thing. My Coke Chicken when done in such big volume doesn’t turn out as well as I like it to be :(
I woke up early to cook this Coke Chicken but it did not have that nice glaze that my usual Coke chicken do. Hmm… Anyway, too late to do anything anymore so we proceeded to drive to Xiang’s place.
When I got there, I saw Xiang checking on his lasagna and I thought to myself, “Wah! That looks GOOD!” The Garfield in me got super excited.
There! Xiang’s lasagna. Picture perfect and approved by Garfield.
And then I see Choi Yen preparing her huge bowl of salad with honey and mustard dressing.
Oh gosh. I’m starting to let out cold sweat. This is THE ultimate salad. Bacon, walnut, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, corn, hard boiled eggs and the list goes on..
Jenn came next and started to fry her signature belacan chicken and pork. I think Xiang had just seen my Coke chicken hence that expression -.-
Jenn’s belacan chicken and pork looks like THIS! Everyone can’t help but curi makan some while she was frying those.
I just wanted to bury my head in the sand at that very moment but there was no sand, only solid tiles in Xiang’s house :(
As if that is not enough, Jenn also brought this:
Freshly baked Ham and Cheese Quiche that is so good she can start selling them already.
Xiang also prepared cocktail for us. But wait, side track a bit. Let me introduce you to Jun Fook (that handsome young chap at the back). He is not married (macam Xiang) but unlike Xiang, he doesn’t cook. BUT what he brought is a hit with the kids and ME!
Jun Fook brought Baskin Robbins ice-cream cake! Drools! I bagi dia 5 stars. Girls take note. He is single and I think still available :D
Xiang also prepared dessert for us.
Xiang’s fabulous French Apple Tart.
By now my heart is palpitating like mad. I’m not at any chapalang potluck party, I’m witnessing Master Chefs LIVE in action! Can I hide my Coke chicken now?
While the super Chefs are all busy in action in the kitchen, Darling kept the kids occupied with Xiang’s massage chair.
After a while we finally get to dig into the scrumptious lunch prepared by my talented foodie friends.
We had a really great time feasting and catching up on each other’s lives. We should do this more often but next time I think I’ll go buy Ayamas or something and tipu as my own cooking >_<
Jun Fook’s from Kuching. We lost touch somewhere along the way…
You Coke chicken (Hmmmmm!!!!) looks great! Sure would want to try…but of course, even if I were in KL, I would not be invited one – nobody, not celebrity blogger. Sobssssss!!!!!!
You are Sibu’s food directory, we’d definitely love to have you here, anytime :D
Ahahahahahaha! High level pot luck! Yes, the level is so high just like 5-star hotel! Jen’s an award-winning cook leh!
Yeah. No joke wan. Food all top-notch, I am so lucky!
Lovely potluck. It is the company that make it looks fun and great. Your Coke chicken is fine to me. I had Coke pork belly on Jay”s birthday party. ^^
Going to have a potluck party early next month with few friends but hope the haze gone by then as we are having it in my clubhouse poolside (where Jay had his party last month).
Agree on the company. We had a great time catching up as it has been awhile since we last gathered together :)
You kacau one, on FB said wan share recipe, then in the blog said wanna hide in the sand. So which is it? Good or no good? I think your coke chicken can lah, better than mine! Hahaha!
I posted on FB before I saw the rest of the food la. My Coke chicken paled in comparison to their ‘atas’ food.. *shy*
wah.. all the CHEFs there making submerryn really wanted to be a submarine unseen with her coke chicken!!! okay, i do not know them but Jenn is hebat with her can-open-restaurant-and-get-people-lining-up dishes, Xiang is so hospitable with three dishes, and finally i also want to friend with Jun Fook, i love that ice-cream cake, i-scream!!! hahaha~~ :p
BTW, you should have told everyone that your darling cooked the coke chicken la :D
All the food look so good but I think I like the salad best! Did everyone finish eating your chicken?
We should do this often!
