Horlicks Chocolate

It was rather disheartening when we received Ethan’s report card late last year. It was not because of his result but more to his growth chart. His height remained the same throughout the entire year while his weight increased a mere 2kg. I poured out my worries on Facebook and many experienced mothers advised me to give Ethan Horlicks for breakfast as it contains 23 growth nutrients such as calcium for strong bones and protein supporting growth.  In addition to this, Horlicks contains 12 vitamins and 8 minerals such as vitamin B3, B6, B9, B12, C, D, A, Iron, Zinc and Potassium.

I don’t see any harm trying so I quickly went to the nearest sundry shop to get a bottle of Horlicks. I bought the original flavour for Ethan to try.

Horlicks journey to school breakfast

I wasn’t sure if he’ll love the malty flavour as much as I do but after his first sip, he said he actually loves it.

From that day onwards, Ethan has been drinking Horlicks every day before going to school.

Not too long ago, he came home with samples of Horlicks Chocolate. He told us he got it from school. True enough, his teacher later sent us this picture of the kids and their Horlicks Chocolate.

Sorry I have to make blur Ethan’s classmates’ faces to protect their privacy.

Can you spot Ethan?

He grew a liking to this rich chocolaty beverage after sampling it and requested for us to buy this instead of the original flavour on our next purchase. It’s no wonder Horlicks Chocolate has been named Product of the Year in the Instant Beverages Category in a recent product innovation survey by Nielsen Malaysia amongst 2000 Malaysians.

Today, we baked our most famous rice cooker Moist Chocolate Cake again but this time instead of using cocoa powder, we substitute it with Horlicks Chocolate (because I ran out of cocoa powder at home) and it turned out even more delicious as it has this velvety malty flavour to complement the rich chocolate cake.

Ethan loves it so much that he had two slices of that cake and his regular cup of Horlicks before going to school.

I had Horlicks mille crepe the other day. Very nice! Check that out in my blog post tomorrow. Wink! Wink!

    • //

Oh wow! That’s nice. I want to try making it myself but tedious work lah.

  • //

Oh I see. Now I know why all those baking. Not to make you fat but Ethan! ;)

I understand how you feel because I am a mother too. I also worry about Jay as he was a choosy eater and I think he was below average height and weight of his age. Maybe I could let him try Horlick too. I did bought once but no one want to drink it. I never into Horlick myself. Lol.

LoL at making Ethan fat. I want him to grow taller not fatter :P

Growing up, I love Horlicks. Then when I left my home for college, I kind of stopped, dun know why. Now, since I got Ayden and breastfeed him, I started taking Horlicks again as many believe Horlicks is a milk booster :D

Horlicks chocolate cake must be really fragrant, I could smell it when looking at the picture. Lol! I wish my girls can accept this beverage like Ethan. So far they only like MILO and Nestum.

It’s really nice. It makes the cake more interesting.

  • //

M you can open a bakery now.

    • //

Hahaha. I wish. I guess for now I’ll just host private dinners :D

Huh? Serious? I always thought milk is the single most effective agent for growth. I drink milk for breakfast all the way until I go to college, (I think) that’s how I become 1.87m… >.<

But ah, sometimes it is due to individual body also, cannot force one. And some say, 五短 必有一长 (get a translator)… XD

My kids drink milk too but somehow they don’t grow that much. People say maybe because I’m petite so my kids can’t grow too big but I won’t give up!

  • //

good boy! but best not to consume on type of drink too often. is always good to have some variety ;)

    • //

Agree. They do drink milk and all too :)

  • //

Yummy! I love Horlicks too – in my cakes, but primarily as a malt drink. I even like the Horlicks candy, I’m a huge fan and would usually order Horlicks when I go out.

    • //

Oh YES! I remember Horlicks candy. I super love that too. Now that you reminded me, I think I’ll hunt for it tomorrow :)

  • //

I love to drink horlicks when I was a child. Now I can’t drink anymore because I will get a sore throat. Good to see that Ethan loves to drink Horlicks. How about Ayden?

    • //

Ayden loves to eat the Horlicks popsicle I made. I love it too actually :D
