Toddler Gym vs Playground

I’m writing this post because while I was shopping last weekend, I was approached by some very persuasive sales person insisting for me to sign Ayden up for their toddler gym. I don’t get it why we need to fork out a fortune just for our toddler to run around trying to sweat it out in an indoor playground with aircond. Why can’t we just bring them to the outdoor playground with sunshine and fresh air? A little bit of sunshine is good for the bones yo. We need Vitamin D to aid in calcium absorption and sunshine is just full of it.

Just like when Ayden was a little baby, I was approached to enroll him for baby spa. I was like, what? Such luxuries babies get these days to go for a swim in a spa followed by a massage. But no, I did not take up the offer. I brought him to our pool instead so the entire family can swim together. You can read all about it here – Swimming With a Neck Float Ring in a Public Pool.

He enjoyed his swim there though there was no massage after that. Sorry baby, next time you work and earn your own money dy then you can pay for your own massage :P

Ok back to my baby gym story. That fella dai dai oso insisted for me to sign up. Offered a week trial somemore. But there is a playground opposite my house that I can go for free and go anytime I wish so why should I fork out hundreds of RM monthly for this? He answered coz at their centre, I can actually just dump Ayden there, go shopping and come back later to pick him up.

Owh, sorry lah not keen because playground time is actually my bonding time with the kids. That is the only time I switch off my data and am totally without my phone (except when I needed to take a pic of them).

Both Ethan and Ayden frequent the playground from one month old. I’ll bring them out to get some sunshine, fresh air and MY much needed daily walk. We look forward to our daily playground routine so much that we get miserable when it rains. People say nothing in life is free but I say our playground is FREE lah compared to these baby gyms that are mushrooming around lately because parents in the Klang Valley have too much money dy.

Talking about mushrooms, our playground also has mushrooms.

So many somemore! But that is another story for another day…

Before I sign off, here’s a video of Ayden’s playground progress from 12 months old until 17 months old. He took his first unaided step here at the playground at 12 months old and can slide down and swing on his own by the time he is 17 months. Exactly same as big brother Ethan!

Ohh baby gym, if the baby is combine with mummy gym, maybe I’ll consider ;)

Hmm. I would go for the natural playground. Hehe. Fresh air. But indoor gym is always an alternative when the weather is bad.

So the baby gym is not so much for the babies but for the mommies? Pay a few hundred RM monthly so that you can have a couple hours free time to go shopping periodically.

I think most mommies would spend that few hours worrying about their babies instead of fully enjoying the free time, so it would be pointless. Better go to the playground like you do with Ethan and Ayden.

Good that you are one mommy that turned down paid sponsored post to advertise baby spa and toddler gym. I have been reading many paid sponsored post about these two commercial business for babies and toddlers.

Can see from your video, Ayden is so happy playing in the outdoor playground. You are such a good mommy, I recommend that you conduct parenting classes to educate parents on this.
