Auspicious CNY Menus @ Ming Palace, Corus Hotel KL

One of the great ways to begin the celebration of the Lunar New Year is by indulging in hearty meals and symbolic dishes representing good luck, prosperity and health with family and friends.

submerryn and family

The Submerryn family was at Ming Palace, Corus Hotel KL recently to toss to their scrumptious Lou Sang set menu.

Corus Salmon Fish Yee Sang

Salmon Fish Yee Sang with Dragon Fruits and Pine Seed (RM98++ Half Portion / RM128++ Whole Portion)

The best part of Lou Sang is the gathering of family and friends to share our good wishes for life.

Aiyah, kena ‘flash-bombed’ by other camera  but never mind, still happy tossing to prosperity.

A healthier choice of yee sang that is made up of pine seeds, pomelo, dragon fruits, snow pear and more for good health and wealth. They also offer a choice of Abalone and Jelly Fish Yee Sang. Prices range from RM58++ per half portion to RM268++ per whole portion.

Double boiled cordycep chicken soup with fish maw and dried scallop

Nothing beats having double boiled soup on a cold evening. Nutritious soup to warm up the heart and soul.

Corus Steamed Silver Promfret Fish with Supreme Soy Sauce

Steamed Silver Pomfret Fish with Supreme Soy Sauce

This is pretty much the same with the steamed pomfret fish I grew up having, it fondly reminds me of home. Deliciously tender and moist, it is a must with the old folks for fish to be served on its entirely during any Chinese New Year reunion dinner.

Stir Fried Sea Prawn in Honey Dew Boat

Stir Fried Sea Prawn in Honey Dew Boat

Succulent stir fried prawns served in a lovely boat made of honey dew. Topped with ebiko and eaten together with honey dew balls, this is one refreshing combination that caught my attention. I helped myself to a third helping when everyone wasn’t looking. Shh…

Braised Top Shell, Sea Cucumber with dried oysters and fatt choy

Braised Top Shell, Sea Cucumber with Dried Oysters and Fatt Choy

A must-have at any reunion meal is this fatt choy dish with premium ingredients namely dried oyster, sea cucumber, broccoli and mushroom. Cheers to health and prosperity.

Stewed Chicken with Chinese Herbs

This precious bundle opened up to a fragrant aroma of chinese herbs. Dig deeper and we found the treasure; nutritious chicken stewed until so tender and the flesh comes off the bones easily.

Fried Rice

Fried Rice with Waxed Duck and Liver Sausage in Lotus Leaves

For a dose of carbohydrate coz you know, the bigger your belly the more prosperous you are? Hence the reason this dish is also one of the must have in your menu. I don’t usually eat rice but I can’t resist these kind of rice served during the CNY. I’ll sure to eat at least half a bowl if not a full bowl.

Corus CNY Dessert 2

Duet Sweet Dainties (Fried Ninko and Rabbit Bun)

I love that almost every dish served tonight are similar from the good old traditional Chinese New Year reunion dinner menu. It really reminds me of home and the years we spend growing up, having hearty homely dinner together with the family.

Ethan loves the traditional deep fried ninko while Ayden’s favourite is the rabbit bun.

Corus Dessert

Ayden ate the entire rabbit bun with white lotus filling.

Corus CNY Dessert

Ginger Tea with Glutinous Rice Dumpling

We ended our dinner with this pungent ginger tea. Though I love ginger tea, what we had here is a little over-whelming to me. I’d prefer if they used less ginger as this is a tad too spicy. But then again, I don’t see the rest of the diners complaining so maybe it’s just me and my low tolerance for ginger.

Nevertheless, we had a lovely dinner that evening. The restaurant offers two different sets of 7-course meal made available for a minimum of four persons priced at RM118++ and RM158++ per person. For a larger group, feast on five different sets of 9-course meal ranging from RM888++ to RM1788++ per table of ten persons.

For enquiries or reservations, please call 03-2161 8888 ext 127 or 188.
