The Manhattan Fish Market
Darling and I went for dinner at The Manhattan Fish Market, Mid Valley about a fortnight ago with 4 other friends. A total of 6 adults and 2 children (excluding Ayden), we had a lot to eat.
Dinner starts with their homemade soup specially prepared by the Chef.
Cream of Beetroot Soup (RM5.50 Lite / RM6.50 Reg)
Darling and I had this new item in the menu – cream of beetroot soup. So pretty in pink, I never know beetroot can taste so good! Other friends had the one at the back, I’m not too sure what that was but if I am not mistaken, it is the Farmer’s Soup because it is also a new addition to their menu.
Oyster Roulette (RM14.90)
Then we proceeded with a game of dare. 1 of the 4 poached oyster shooters comes with an extra shot of spiciness that will shoot you through the roof so they say.
But maybe because my tongue is so used to spicy food, I find it mild. Nothing to be afraid off here. I can gulp down all four without any problem but then again, spicy food is my staple food so you might want to try this with caution :P
Now let’s look at the food we had. We tried mostly the new items in their menu. We must always be adventurous and try new things right?
Manhattan Fish Market Fishy Chicky Bang Bang (RM20.90)
If you are having a hard time deciding between chicken and fish, then this Fishy Chicky Bang Bang will suit you best as you can have the best of both world.
It’s a match made in cheddar cheese heaven with dory fillet on one side and chicken fillet on the other.
Comes with a sunny side up, nestled on a fried spaghetti bed. Simply gorgeous.
If you are into spicy seafood, then you’ll love this Volcano Island.
Volcano Island with a choice of Slipper Lobster (RM57.90)
An island of spicy jewels – juicy seafood in Murray Curry, fried scallops, poached spicy dory nuggets, Volcano mussels and crispy baguette on a bed of Garlic Herb rice. The curry is a little too mild for me though. I prefer it to be stronger and more flavorful.
Fried Giant (RM57.90)
Giant platter of crunchy prawns, crispy fish fingers, cherry snapper fillets, battered onion strips and calamari coated with crushed peanuts. Served with a selection of dips – Cajun Honey Mustard, Smoky Chipotle, Tartar and Onion Glory Dip
Me and the Fried Giant platter. It’s insane to try to eat this alone. It’s good for sharing and for me, it’s good for at least 3 adults but some of my friends said that it’s perfect for two adults. So yes, all these sharing platter are perfect as ‘paktor’ meals.
I feed you, you feed me, we are happy, you and me :D
Flaming Cheeesy Baked Rice (RM20.90)
Flame-grilled cheesy dory fillet on a bed of Coriander and Rosemary Herb rice. They actually flame the cheese right in front of you.
Okay, so this is good for one pax. But again, I won’t be able to finish them all as I am cutting down on rice. The most is just a tablespoon or two but the rice here is simply delicious that I’m so tempted to break my diet and I actually did! >_<
Coastal Baked Seafood (RM21.50)
If you love seafood (of course you do or else why would you go to Manhattan Fish Market?) you’ll love this as they have an assortment of seafood with dory, calamari and juicy scallops baked in a savoury marinade, served with Garlic Herb rice and hot veggies.
The kids had special kids meal.
Octo-ghetti Attack (RM9.90 with drink)
Ethan had this boat of yummy spaghetti, topped with juicy cheese sausages and a side of broccoli and carrots.
While Dylan had the Chicky Mac and Cheese. Cheesy macaroni with batter-fried chicken nuggets and greens.
As for dessert, we had a very unique banana fritters served on a hot plate.
Sizzling Banana Fritters With Ice-Cream (RM12.90)
Hot and crispy banana fritters in sizzling coconut cream topped with chocolate ice-cream. It was very interesting to see the coconut cream sizzles right in front of us.
We also had this Strawberry Flamin-Go (RM8.90)
Mango pudding and fresh strawberries drizzled liberally with chocolate sauce and then topped with flamed marshmallows. This got my vote as the best dessert as the mango pudding compliments the fresh strawberries very well with the chocolate sauce sealing it to perfection. Nothing can get better than this. Thumbs up!
Super Fruit Crumble (RM8.90)
A double scoop of vanilla ice-cream dressed in delicious apple sauce, layered with crunchy crumble and topped with cranberries.
It was definitely a night of happy feasting. I enjoyed it a lot as I am a fish person. I prefer seafood to red meat and the food here is absolutely worth sharing.
Not bad…pretty big portion some of it…can share :)
That was a lot on your table. Long time did not eat there. Missed the fish fillet.
I love to try that volcano island.
I love to eat seafood but am trying to stay away from deep fried and oily food so will give this a pass. Good to see all of you including the children loving the food there.
No no no, I must not be tempted! CNY soon, need to cut back on all deep fried food in preparation for eating like a pig in 2 months time!
wow…looks fatty but good. Maybe I should have Manhattan fish mart tomorrow. eh..did i see cleavage in one of the pixs? :P
