Kimberley Street Penang Food Hunt

We are in Penang yo! Our first day here and Darling’s friend brought us to Kimberley Street for some local hawker fare. When you speak of Kimberley Street, there is this famous 4 that you must try so let us hunt for them..

Kimberley street traditional home of dessert

We went into this Restoran Traditional Home of Dessert and got comfortable before the guys go and ordered a table full of food!
Kimberley street Char Koey Teow 1

I heard this uncle’s char koey teow is very famous so I told Darling’s friend that I must have a plate of it.

Kimberley Street Char Koey Teow

So he got me a plate of extra spicy char koey teow.

Kimberley street Char Koey Teow 2

There’s something in this CKT that I don’t find in KL and our friend told us it is mantis prawns. Oooh… wow! I’m lucky to have the privilege to have eaten this :D No wonder the char koey teow here is such a rave.

Kimberley Street Chicken Feet

Darling’s friend also ordered this braised chicken feet because he said this is another item of the famous four that we must try. True enough, it is very soft and melts in my mouth. All I need to do is put them into my mouth and suck a little and the bones will come out clean. So flavourful, so delicious. Definitely a must try if you are on a food hunt in Kimberley Street.

Kimberley Street Chee Cheong Fun

Darling ordered this Chee Cheong Fun for Ethan and we love it although I don’t think this is one of their famous four.

Kimberley Street Loh Mee 1

We also ate this Loh Mee that has so many stuffs inside. We don’t usually get so much jewels in our noodles in the Klang Valley so this is really a surprise for us.

Kimberley Street dessert almond milk

We had this Almond Milk dessert from the stall outside which is also in the famous four list but I think it needs an acquired taste to appreciate this. Firstly, I am not used to the fragrant aroma but I took several sips nonetheless hoping that I might like it after a few sips but no, I don’t think I like it.

Kimberley Street tong sui

I do however love this. So refreshing I think it is what we call Leng Chi Kang in KL? But here they have red beans in it too which we don’t have in KL. This I don’t mind having bowls after bowls lah :D

Kimberley Street Satay

Our friend also ordered rojak which I find to be okay. Nothing to shout about but decent lah compared to the ones in KL.

Kimberley street chicken

He also made sure I eat this braised chicken and just like the chicken feet, this is also soft, tender and very flavourful. Each bite gives you a burstful of flavour from the sauce. Sedap!

Kimberley Street Soya Bean

I was surprised I actually ate all of the above. Darling was even more surprised! But what was even more surprising is that I am still game for more so our friend took us to this nearby stall for their famous soya bean milk and taufufah. One of the famous four in Kimberley Street.

Oh my goodness. I am so full now. Just like our friend said, I can go on diet all I want in KL but when I am in Penang, I have to let it all go and just enjoy the food. Diet can continue when I am back in boring KL/PJ… I’m so glad our friend took us here. At least I have my hawker food craving fixed. Burp. Now excuse me I need to go to sleep. I am after all still on a holiday :D
