Craving for Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake!

I’m a huge fan of cheesecakes. My favourite is those creamy type of cheesecakes. I don’t really fancy the soft cottony type of light cheesecake but the recent opening of Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake in 1Utama is creating such a buzz that the hype is getting into me. I see Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake all over my FB feed, every hour, every day! Basically everyone I know has got a bite of Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake except ME.

Temptation was driving me crazy so I made it a point to go to 1Utama last Saturday to get at least one cheesecake for me but haih… look at the queue lah.
Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake 1U

The queue was that long in the morning. It was even longer in the afternoon. In the evening it looked like the entire world was at 1U just to queue for Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecake!

I gave up … and walked over to AEON to get these just to feed my cravings for light japanese cheesecake :(

Cheesecake

Ethan wanted the one with chocolate too so I got two.

Craving for Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake

Cotton soft and fluffy.. yes. But not as cheesy as I would like it to be. Maybe that is why I prefer creamy cheesecake to cotton cheesecake. Because my love for cheese is that strong.

Anyway, I have yet to get a bite of Uncle Tetsu. I mean his cheesecake! Haih… If only anyone can deliver it to me now :( Thank goodness I am not preggy otherwise, kesian my baby :P

Huh? so you didn’t get to eat in the end? ceh!

    • //

That’s why still craving lah! LoL! :P

  • //

Aiyoh! The cake is so soft and fluffy. I like my cheesecake like that too! Not too cheesy or I cannot take more than 2 spoons. ^^

    • //

But I like creamy and rich one wor. Can eat the entire slice by myself. And then another. And then lie down and pengsan… haha!

  • //

Wah .looks sinful but eat a bit la. Just run 30 mins will do. He hehe….

    • //

Cheesecake . Where can eat a bit? Must eat a lot. Then sleep. That’s the way it should be :D

  • //

My favourite kind of cheesecake. No, thank you to all those very rich ang moh ones – one little slice already so jelak, could not eat anymore.

The first time I tried Japanese cotton baked cheesecake was in Singapore, Cold Storage at Centrepoint – Uncle Miki’s, a Japanese franchise…and I loved it and my girl too! Still young then and she wanted more and more. Saw it at Isetan, Lot 10 once…dunno if they are still selling it there.

Sure would love to try this one. We have our own here at one bakery, also nice…but not cheap. One oval shaped cake – length about the ones in your photo – RM14, I think. Will only buy the bigger round ones…when it’s somebody’s birthday. Too expensive to indulge in on normal days.

    • //

Actually I like the ang moh ones. I can eat the entire slice and then another. And then go to sleep :P

When you coming to KL again? We make a date to try this Uncle ok?

  • //

Give it a few more months, once the novelty wears off, you can have it everyday! :D

    • //

But… but… but.. by then I might not want it anymore! Hahaha!

  • //

LOL! I have yet to try the Aeon cheese cake. I like Uncle Tetsu’s ones but they should be eaten cold (from the fridge) not warm as suggested by them! :)

    • //

I like cheesecakes cold. Weird to eat them warm. Haha

  • //

Wow, so this is the new in-thing. I am going to 1u soon so will see whether the queue is still that long or not. If not, I will buy to try. Reminds me of a cheesecake shop in Taipei main train station where the queue is that long every single day.

So you like Secret Recipe’s cheese cakes? I guess they belong to the creamy category.

    • //

Yes I like Secret Recipe’s cheesecakes. Very creamy. After eat, kenot talk. LoL

  • //

So you will go and join the queue soon?

Aeon’s cheesecake also nice but not as nice as Uncle Tetsu’s eh? :P

    • //

I heard Uncle Tetsu’s one very nice, the taste. That’s why I mengidam sangat sangat nak try…. haiz

  • //

Wow…really so cheesie that so many people were queuing for that. Making me curious to check out too.

    • //

When you get one, think of me and send some to me kay? Hahahahaha.. I dekat jer dengan u :P

  • //

I was there today and no queue at uncle tetsus.

    • //

Argh! You and two others told me the same thing :( Guess I should try going there on weekdays ..

  • //

Oh, Uncle Tetsu has arrived in Malaysian shores. Over here also got, but no queue ;) We love it. You should try it one day… the texture is not really cottony but more mousse-like, I’d say. Nice!

    • //

OK! I’ll definitely try it one day. Curiousity is killing me… Haha

  • //

    Dear Merryn,

Ahh, We are sorry for disappoint you, very much we want to have more oven and more staff, so we can deliver more cakes during the day, however, due to the space limitation, we only allowed to place 2 deck oven and that’s why our production is limited.

and yea, would like to remind you beforehand, Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake was made by Cream Cheese, unlike American Cheesecake where they are more rich in cheese taste, Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake is lighter in Cheese, but we emphasize on the fluffiness!!

hope you like our cheesecake after tasting ’em.
    Cheers :)

    Sincerely,
    Uncle Tetsu Malaysia

Uncle, I am very sad. I tried again over the weekend and failed yet again. The weekend crowd is just too crazy. I have a one year old boy and he cant queue that long with me so I guess I’ll have to try going there on weekdays instead. I heard the crowd is much more manageable on weekdays.

Yes, I understand now that Japanese soft cheesecake is unlike American cheesecake and has already put a mental note not to expect that overly rich cheese taste but enjoy the lighter and fluffy texture instead :D

is Uncle Tetsu cream cheesecake safe to eat during pregnancy? do they use pasteurized cream cheese? It melts in the mouth, doesn’t look like its fully cooked
