The Cause of Power Failure

We experienced a sudden power failure last Monday. Just when everyone is busy storing water for the water rationing exercise, we are left in the darkness. By ‘we’ I meant my house and my house alone. Our neighbours still have lights and water. We have water but no light :(

Our neighbours are all very kind though. 1Malaysia  spirit all the way! Whatever color also come out to help us check what’s the problem. We called TNB but while waiting for their arrival, our immediate neighbours all tried their very best to see if they can help rectify the problem. It was like an unspoken game; whoever successfully brings back electricity is the CHAMPION! Everyone tried to help except ONE particular neighbour who remained quietly in his house alone. We were not even aware he was at home.

Darling changed the fius, did this and that but to no avail. We are still in darkness, sweating buckets and feeding mozzies. Then our neighbours’ kindness went one level up. They offered for our kids to shower and then rest at their place in the cool comfort of aircond but Ethan declined. He was excited to be in the group of grown-up men trying to fix something.

Tenaga Nasional Malaysia

Can you see Ethan kay-poh-ing there? Haha.. Actually I lagi kaypoh, taking pictures of them while they are super busy and frustrated.

TNB

2 hours later the guys from TNB arrived. They checked and discovered that the root of the power failure is because our immediate neighbour’s wires are damaged hence it disrupts the supply to our house! And this is that ONE neighbour who did not help us earlier. We rang his door bell as the TNB people said they’ll have to cut his power temporarily to replace those wires but no answer. We rang summore and still no answer so we told the TNB people to go ahead and shut down his power supply.

TNB people changing the wires in my neighbour’s house.

The moment his house went dark, we heard shouting! He came out shouting vulgarities! We were all shocked! Terkejut beruk I tell you! We thought there was no one home and suddenly we saw this creature shouting at us. We politely told him what happened and informed him that we rang his bell numerous times but no answer. That’s why la, people ring your bell come out and check la. The TNB truck so big in front of his house dy still buat bodoh only! By the time he cooled down the TNB people had completed changing his wires. Yeah, I wish they had change the wires in his head instead. This guy definitely has some short circuit up there!

Just like that our power is back up. Our neighbour was still unhappy and demanded an explanation from the TNB people. The TNB people explained that in terrace houses, every 2 to 3 houses share the same dunno what lah and if one of the house got damaged, it will affect the other one or two. So we are the unfortunate one that night.  But all is not lost as during that 3 hours of darkness, we got to know who our good neighbours are and who the cuckoo in the head one is.

Under such hot weather, if no electricity, I’m gonna faint.

Hehe.. We kinda laugh in our hearts too after the commotion is over.

Some people are simply dead to the world. Very strange that there are people like that. My neighbour’s dog attacked my missus on the road outside and nobody bothered to come out…at all! Ended up with a few stitches.

Oh dear Arthur! So sorry to hear that. Your wife must had been traumatised by the entire incident! :(

  • //

That is one bad and nasty neighbour. And the cause of your electricity problem. Hate this type of people!!

  • //

I certainly feel you..but my case was the neighbor parked his car right in front of our house! We honked & rang his door bell so many times but also didn’t come out. Padahal inside ada orang, tak tahu buat apa dalam…
