Escalating electricity tariff: Energy saving appliances

As we marvelled at the beautiful fireworks decorating the sky ushering the new year 2014, we are in fact also welcoming new electric tariff. The new electricity tariff is now as high as the fireworks can go!

My sleeping child Ayden, oblivious to the escalating standard of living surrounding him.

If you’re friends with me on Facebook, you’ll know that I recently posted the picture of my ‘kaput-ed’ aircond in the master bedroom. Thank goodness for us, we have extra rooms in the house with aircond installed too.  It was still Chinese New Year when the aircond in the master bedroom died on us. We decided not to do anything with it then (and just sleep in the guest room first) as we are sure most electricians will charge an arm and a leg during this festive break.  Now that CNY is over and done with, we start to scout for a brand new aircond for our room.

With the escalating electricity tariff being a burden, energy saving appliances becomes centre of attention, especially appliances that need higher energy consumption like aircond. We are thinking of getting another Sharp aircond for our master bedroom as they focus on inverter. We currently have two Sharp airconds; one in the guest room and another in the kids’ room.

Darling is a fan of inverter as the more we use the appliance, the more we can actually save. An inverter aircond can actually help reduce our power bill by 35-55%!

Can somebody please help us pay that outstanding amount?

Darling is also keen on Sharp for their most important feature – the Plasmacluster. Sharp’s plasmacluster technology can:

  • Break down and remove allergens such as dust mite feces and dead dust mites
  • Remove odors that adhered to curtains, sofas, and other objects
  • Suppress the effects of airborne viruses
  • Break down and remove airborne mold and suppress the proliferation of adhering mold

The above features are extremely important to prevent little Ayden from falling ill due to these avoidable causes. As a mother, there’s nothing more I want than to keep my kids healthy. As for the father, other than his kids’ health, he’s also trying to keep our overhead as low as possible.

Rm600+?? *eyes pop out* I see many of my friends complaining and posting their multi-hundred ringgit TNB bills in FB too and wonder how you all can consume so much electricity in a month. Ours never exceeded rm50 per month… the advantage of staying in a small house and disliking aircond, maybe.

Very nice fireworks picture you took ! And it is true, everything are rising as high as the fireworks !

  • //

RM1xx = air con on hot days or when I want a good night sleep. AND is not even on everyday, other electrical appliances included.

below RM1xx = depends to how many pc on. other electrical appliances included.

2 adults in an average flat. no kids.

if I ever get the same outstanding bill as yours, I’m going to faint or immediate heart attack!

Get the newer energy-saving models…and no need for too big a unit…and no need to turn it full blast – as long as the room is not hot, good enough – want to be freezing cold, move to the North Pole. Hehehehehehe!!!!!
