One Utama’s Chinese New Year decor 2014

I’ve always sang praises for One Utama’s festive decors. I’ve complimented them so much until certain parties thought that I’m working with their PR or something. I tell you, I have nothing with them ok? They don’t even invite me for their launches or anything eventhough I’ve supported them for so long *cries silently in a corner*

This year as usual, I went mall hopping for the best Chinese New Year decor and 1U was my second stop after Sunway Pyramid. I thought that they might recycle those many Christmas horses into their CNY decor but what I saw was this:

I was like… apa nih?!

That’s it? Are they done? Or is this only half-way done?

No horses? A far cry from last year’s street of Hong Kong theme.

One Utama was transformed into an elaborate Hong Kong street last year.

Totally disappointed I tell you! I thought they might recycle their horses just like back in 2012 when they recycled their Christmas’ Underwater decor and convert it into a beautiful CNY Dragon themed decor.

In 2012, they transformed this:

into this:

WOW right?!

So, when last Christmas we saw horses:

We thought some of them will at least make it for CNY but sadly none of them survived the blizzard.

Horse or no horse, what is worse is that their CNY decor is not even impressive this year.

Want horse? Head over to Sunway Pyramid for some really cool looking horses!

This is how we usher The Year of The Horse.. with HORSES!

I think it’s quite good, maybe previous years standards are higher.

Horse went merayau luar until don’t know how to come back

si beh sad….really as we choose this mall out of so many to be the first to visit to view the decor..

  • //

Err… is it me or what? I thought the decor was alright? Although a couple of golden horses would be better to suit the theme but it looks fine for me…. wait till you see those in Pg’s shopping malls :P

    Very impressive to me.

This really caught me by surprise! I thought they are going to use those horses from Xmas! Oh well, I like the pagoda structure. If only they have more of those pagodas. Overall, looks pretty average.

  • //

Not sure what theme they want to presented to us hor…. =.=”

  • //

I was puzzled too! High hope but ended with big disappointment..

So nice the decorations, here the shopping centre nothing much…

I, too, thought that the horses from Christmas will be re-used, but I guess they probably knew many of us would have thought so, hence, decided for something else.

But I like the decoration though. Went there on the first day itself to have photos taken, not to mention I have been following the works on the decoration since January 2.

The theme is “In the Mood for Red” and the pavilion structure as the main attraction seems to bring us back to the feel of Chinese New Year in the 1980s, accompanied with the blasting of Chinese New Year songs from the yesteryears!

      Hi James,

I just find it a bit wasting as we are ushering the year of the Wood Horse and there they are, so many wooden horses from Christmas laying around but not put into good use. It’s like, it’s such a waste for such good opportunity. Anyhow, it’s their choice but I’m still not impressed with this year’s decor. It’s okay but it’s nothing to shout about :)
